Server Setup: Need some help =/
I was trying to get my own server runniong, but it seems nothings working, which may also be may fault, since I'm really not good with port forwarding and all that stuff =)

I started the server launcher put in the Name, a password (for now) Europe and lan game.

Sadly, I cant see my server in the LAN tab .. =(
Not to mention, that my server doesnt appear in the Internet tab either (also when i disable the LAN Box and start a new server)

Next I tried forwarding the ports. Not sure if I did it right: see screenshot
www.firesoul.at/port.jpg

thanks for the help in advance.

Moved topis and looking at the screenshot it doesn't look like you have the forwarding quite setup right.

The field where it asks for an Internal IP address is going to be the IP address of your machine. I see you have 192.168.0.10 and 0.11 forwarded for the correct port range, but is either 0.10 or 0.11 the IP for your PC?

If possible try setting your PC to a static address as listed in of those two range setups. i.e. set your PC to pull a static of 192.168.0.10 from there you may need to restart steam and/or your PC. Then when creating your server make sure you have the port set for 7777 and if choosing a specific region try looking for your server in that region of the server lists. If it doesn't work let me know!

I almost like that domain name. Almost.

the .0.10 is one machine the .0.11 is the other. I tried it with both, hence the two forwards =)
I will look into it more tonight, thanks for the help!

Did you opened other ports that used by Valve?

Since I can open a server for almost any games without opening ports, I never thougth it was necessary.

But then again, I dont know much about forwarding stuff and started to read into it.. now :D

In additon if you continue to have issues this may be of interest:

Sooo, been playing around with that for a couple of hours now.. to no avail. open all the ports you guys linked me. tested if ports are really open with other application and games.. worked.
I do see my server in the LAN, but as soons as I uncheck the box and restart the server nothing.

Also I noticed that, whenever I hit the "create" button in the server launcher, the port gets changed by +2. that seems... like a bug to me, especially since the port range is said to be 7777 - 7780.

It adds two ports because you're allowed to create more than one server, the laucnher will detect that you launch on 7777 and then move to to the next available port. When creating teh online server you will need to launch on 7777 and make sure teh LAN box is unchecked

ah that explains the +2. LAN Box certainly was disabled, still no success though =(

And your PC is statically set to one of the addresses you have in the forwarding ranges? i.e CMD>ipconfig IPv4 = 192.168.0.10 or .11?

Can you join your own LAN match? If not, it sounds like the same issue I and so many, many other people have. It that's the case the most you can hope for with this server software is hosting games for people outside your own network. Information I've come across claims it's an issue with NAT loopback[en.wikipedia.org] being required, and it would seem many routers have no support for it. However, I can't say for certain on this.

Hang on... I just tried it, and suddenly it works now. Behind-the-scenes fix? Nice!
Edit: After trying a game open to the Internet, there seem to be issues with it appearing. As a workaround you can create and join a LAN game and then remake it as an Internet game and join via the History tab.

ok i played around more and here are my conclusions, maybe they help someone, or help others help me :D

When you open a LAN game with a name that has space in the name (like: space here) then one of two things will happen:
Internet game: it will not be visible.
LAN Game: it will be visible, but not in the LAN tab, but in the "internet" tab. Noone will be able to enter though, since you get the "lost connection to host" error.

back to my Problem (now that I solved this one):

Just for the hell of it, I opened all ports (for a short period) on both my computers.
- Both are able to host a LAN Game, and
- both can host a Internet Game, that can be joined via the "history" tab as soulfire mentioned.
- Neither are visible in the "internet" Tab though =(

UPDATE:
For some reason (I didn't change anything but play around with map / rank / port) PC1 can now not only host an internet Game, but is also visible in the list.
No matter which Port / Map etc I choose.
PC 2 with the same Firewall settings is still stuck at the LAN Games...

This might be related, although I don't really get it, but I've experienced a case where other people in a Mumble chat room could see and join an outside server while I couldn't, and I wasn't the only one with that issue. Eventually I managed to find it using filters, but maybe it was a fluke; I can make a server be the only one in a category and still not see it. In short, I surmise there's an issue loading the server list. Might be some wonky tracker or something... Dunno.

Hmm... The only thing I can think of is that there's a confliction of forwarding the same ports to multiple IP addresses, and to a possible further extent an issue with computer firewall settings.
