Will I Like This Game?
I'm a hardcore fan of RPG's and Adventure games, and I've been playing RPG's and Adventure games since I was 6 years old. So I've played many RPG's from turn based, tactic based, and also open world based, but I've never seen nor played a game like Legend of Grimrock, so I have no experience what type of game this is, and now that it's on sale I'm really tempted to get it, but can anyone give me any opinions if a person like me will like this game? I will greatly appreciate it =)

I'm tempted also. It reminds me of Slayer and it's sequel (3DO console). There have been many Hack and Slash style RPGS of this style, but this one seems to add some really great animations and than some.

So far I have been really enjoying the game. I don't play many RPGs as I don't like having to invest a long time to reap the rewards, however this has really taken a shine to me already. The levels feel like maze games, it feels like a maze with monsters and puzzels, really fun so far.

Yes! This is a great RPG. For the real experience play on Hard. I find myself playing over and finding completely new secrets I didn't discover my first few playthroughs and I also find myself just wanting to start another group cause there are so many different setups to your disposal makes for lots of replay value.

I also bought the game because the temptation was really getting to me, and just from the starting set up of creating your group, I realized that I was going to really enjoy this game! I already put in 30 minutes in the game and I can say, yes I AM going to enjoy this game! =]

I remember an older game simliar to this, the way you move around the dungeons and run into monsters. Early 90's probably. Anyone have a clue?

That describes a TON of RPGs from the 80s and early 90s. Wizardry 1 through 8, Arcana, Megami Tensei, Might and Magic, Eye of the Beholder, Pool of Radiance, etc. etc.

Grimrock is pretty clearly drawing influence from these retro-RPGs, and it's hard to pinpoint any single one.

I love this game. I'm also quite impressed with the dungeon editor that comes with it. It's so easy to use. They also got some lua type of scripting feature if you're into that stuff. These devs really know how to implement stuff right. For $3.74? Wow! is all I can say. Get some water instead of a large coke so you can get this gem :)

It reminds me of Dungeon Master the most, one of the games I had a blast playing as a teenager. 75% Off I'm sold! ;)

this is an updated dungeon master, the 80's game that defined the standard for real-time rpg. if you haven't played that must-play classic, you can get the same experience with this game. the main mechanic difference seems to be that this is exp/level based while dungeonmaster was grind-based. by that i mean skills were raised by using them. in this game, you level up and decide which skills to raise based on a predetermined class.

Hey, mongoose, if you liked Fallout 3 you should try Metro 2033 and STALKER, shadow of Chernobyl.
But yes, Legend of Grimrock is a GREAT game and if anyone is wondering it is a classic "Dungeoncrawl" game with a real-time combat twist. The end is CRAZY-PANTS!

I bought this game yesterday on a whim because it was at a very low sale price after retwatching the WTF is by Totalbiscuit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzIiXx-8BHc I was convinced I would enjoy it.

I've only spent about an hour with the game so far, but it is encredibly immersive due to the first-person camera and great aesthetic. If you even remotely like dungeon crawlers, and possibly if you don't judging by the posts above, you will enjoy this game.
