also, a lot of boxes and sacks you'll find contain free torches.
lastly, if you "wasted" a torch by placing it on a wall to solve a puzzle - you can take it back once it's done it's job.
well the Orb Of Radiance is rather quickly replaced by the vastly-superior Zhandul's Orb, so I wouldn't count on it.
the Light and Darkness spells were what kept my party torchless since level 5 I think :)
While I'm posting, is there any advantage to not using a source of light? Does it make it easier to avoid detection or something? Only I can't really think of any reason to have the darkness spell otherwise...
darkness is needed for a specific puzzle (in level 7 I think), and it helps see enemies that glow in the dark (like fire guardians and the green blob things) to avoid running into nasty ambushes.
I don't think there is an element of stealth in this game. enemies detect you even if you have a party of 4 assassins and stay in the shadows.
