Does this game have a good rpg story?
I got this game last summer and haven't really played it as I haven't had time.

But recently I have been working my way through games I have purchased and didn't have time.

Now I am deciding what game to play next. It's between Grimrock, Deus ex or Skyrim. The deciding factor is of course whether this game has a good story or not.

If you play the game for the story alone then it's not for you. The story isn't all that great and there are only a few visually unimpressive cutscenes. It's mostly about atmosphere, nice gameplay and solving puzzles.

Skyrim's story (main quest) is as cliche and boring as it can get, but there is certainly more talk and there are more impressive visuals.

Deus Ex has a great story, both the first part and also Human Revolution (not sure which part you're talking about).

If you only care about the story then I would suggest you play Deus Ex. Grimrock is a great game though, so I would definitely recommend to play it anyway.

The game's story is pretty good but it's more of a background thing and not at all the focus of the game. You'll get a few tidbits of narrative now and again.

I can't recommend this game enough. As much as I like Skyrim I must say I had a more enjoyable time playing Legend of Grimrock. Took me a lot longer to complete Skyrim though because the world is quite big and full of side activities.

The story sucks, but the gameplay and workshop is more than making up for it

No, this is not RPG, as there are no "roles" to play. You have no choices in terms of story progression, you just go through the maze, kill baddies and solve puzzles. It's a dungeon, not an RPG.

The story is just an excuse to throw you in a dungeon so you can start crawling. I don't mean that in a derogatory way, just that it jumps right into the meat of the game with as little pretense as possible.

What they said, basically. This is an old-school dungeon crawler. If you've played or seen DnD: Eye of The Beholder, Dungeon Master, or any of the other games where you go through a tile-based dungeon in first-person, with a party you can either use a default of, or create yourself, Grimrock is exactly like those, but with more modern graphics, and some major GUI improvements. So, if you're looking for a story, you won't find much of one, but in the case of LoG, that's not a bad thing.

Get Grimrock and Deus Ex, they both have laughable price when discounted (€2.74 and €2.99 respectively at -75%) and they're both amazing games.

I'm an old school gamer and am enjoying the game mechanics for the price. But for story line, plot, and character motivations...its a bit deeper than space invaders.

heh, Space Invaders; One of those rare titles where the name not only describes the game, it's the story too =P
