Floor 6 - "Mage Entrance"

Is it possible to get across that pit without having the fireball spell? Because I built my mage as an Air Mage, and even with 3-5 free points, that's still a long way off from the other 10 I'd need to unlock fireball.

I'm asking because that looks like the only other place left to look for the fourth round key needed for the Iron door. I'm sure that they wouldn't lock an iron door off behind one very specific build.

Of course I haven't tried going to floor 7 to see if the key or a way back up is there. I'll probably do that next.
