Stuck on 3RD Floor Pillar of Light.
I am on the area when the transporter keeps going around the room. If you follow it to the right you step on the one plate but get transported back to the first door way almost immediately. Stepping on the plate opens the door to the left but it closes once you get transported out. How do you get the middle floor to raise up and how do you get the gate to stay open?

When looking around you'll see another pressure plate. You can't get there yet but maybe throw something onto it.

Anyway, this gate will never stay open. It's a time puzzle so you need to be quick.

You gotta have at least two rocks, or something to throw, your going to want to try and run towards that first plate, but before you get to it, turn to your left and throw a rock at the far wall, that will activate a pressure plate that lifts the middle floor plate up, you must then go and stand on the middle plate, then wait for a portal to be over the other plate, as soon as it moves, strafe right and throw a rock at the wall to activate the plate, immediatly strafe left and run like heck towards the door before the portal comes back around and teleports the rock off the plate.

Thanks worked just like you said.

I have been trying this for days...but no matter what I do, I am not fast enough to go through the door once it opens. My movement is jerky, one square at a time, and I have a decent computer! Any suggestions?

what me and my friend did in our lets play while we were figuring this one out was strafing right into the portal room, running backwards and then strafing right again to throw the rock at the far left plate, for the second one, after strafing right out of the middle to throw the rock and then strafing left back tot he middle, you can hold the movement key down and your group will automatically keep running until you take your finger off the key, this might help

I have tried that, but the movement is still jerky, and the transporter catches me before I can get to the open door!!! I am about ready to pull the plug on this one!!!

hm, have you tried strafing right as soon as the portal appears over that second plate as your standing in the middle? this puzzle is a real pain, the only thing you can really do is keep trying

Like was mentioned above. Go up one, slide to the right, go up one, turn to your left and throw a rock. Then go forward one. Turn to the right. Wait for the transporter to go by again then slide to the right, throw a rock...then really quick slide left then run forward.

This puzzle moves too fast that I cannot get past it. I really wish that the DEVs would slow the timing down on some of these puzzles on easier difficulty settings.

The timing is not the problem. You're doing something wrong.
- walk counter clockwise and throw a rock over the open pit onto the pressure plate to close the pit
- walk onto the now closed pit, turn towards the door and wait for a teleporter to pass you
- when the teleporter is over the pressure plate sidestep towards the pressure plate it's over
- immediatly place (not throw!) a rock on the pressure plate when the teleporter moved away
- sidestep back onto the closed pit
- keep steping forward until you made it passed the opening door. It will only stay open long/wide enough for a very brief time, so be quick!

Removing all shadows in the graphics options actually sped up the game enough that I can now get through this puzzle.

Nice puzzle this one , I was stuck here for a while (a few hours), then I saw that plate on the left side, and finally figure it out. Love the puzzles!
If this game is 'jerky' than you have more problems than a puzzle. This game is NOT graphics intense. I have a basic computer and I'm using max graphics. You need to buy a computer for playing games, not a calculator. Anyway, yes that puzzle is annoying. It is split up into two tough parts though. After your standing in the center you can take a second to plan the next move.
ya know by jerky i assume actually his team has someone laden down at yellow inventory level.
also dont insult calculators :)
If anyone has this problem-- simply lower all graphics settings. I have a monster computer at home-- but I play a little on break at work. My work computer makes most of the time puzzles very tough indeed. On lower graphics settings it was much easier.
