Can't get back at Speedrunners!

Doesn't matter what I do and how much I try, I just can't get back to it, it isn't fun getting stomped every match on workshop because I don't know the maps so I don't know any routes, I do know oficial maps but I want to play workshop (and so does pretty much everyone) it's just annoying that I die on the first 10 seconds or so because I can't keep up, they know every route and I don't know any, and doesn't matter how I try I can't learn them...

I used to know every map like 3 years or so ago, and because I played a lot, I got silver, now I'm bronze and I'm playing like an advanced league, I get stomped every single match and it turns out really annoying making me give up on trying to come back to this game.. even though I love this game and wanted to get back to it..

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I choose official maps because those are all I vaguely remember from when I used to play, but people hate officials and always choose workshops so I just lose because I have no clue where to go/what to do.
This game's player base is also a big issue; there are very few players left and the skill gap is so wide that you're always getting stomped or you're playing against beginners. Rarely do I find a middle ground, this lack of middle ground is what's holding me back from learning and getting as good as I used to be.

exactly, that's the problem, this game is too harsh on new players and on people trying to get back to it, I know the mechanics so I get placed in bronze, but everytime it isn't oficial I get stomped and can't do nothing about it, it's making me give up on this game because I can't get back to it.. I've been playing for like 10 hours this past 2 days and only playing workshop (I mean, most of the times) and just can't get better at them.. I get insta killed

and the player's base is on the developers, they had to step it up when all those youtubers were recording it, as much as I love speedrunners, we can all agree that it has been the same for like 2-3 years now.. wich made the youtubers give up on it.. developers should try to bring the popularity up again.. well it's something kinda hard to do and they don't really have anything to inovate now..

You could always play with friends or those who aren't toxic. I know I'd be willing to chill and hang out with someone willing to try and learn how to get better.
