Think of it as bonus content a special edition gets with a later release. This is business as usual for movie releases on DVD and Bluray for years. Just because it's labeled as DLC, there is no real reason to complain about it. It's new content.

So it's the bonus features that COME ON THE DVDS... If you don't see the problem I'm sorry to say that you're part of it.

Hey Tzukasa,

I think I get where you’re coming from, but the 100+minutes of content (over a new film’s worth) that makes up the Special Edition content is material shot and produced after the film’s release. It is completely new material of epilogues, follow-ups and brand new stories. It is never something that could have been included on the DVD or in the original release.

I think you may be getting hung up on the term DLC and some of the negative connotations that can come with it. And that’s understandable, but I’m sure if you took a deeper look at the Special Edition and it’s origins, you’d likely think a bit differently.

Basically, we felt there were more stories to tell and share. And we thought, if people enjoyed the film and wanted more, it would be worthwhile investing the extra ten months (post-release) needed to produce the new content.

Also, I should point out, even though it’s labelled DLC on Steam, anyone who has watched the film by other means (theatrical, broadcast, DVD, etc) can also pick up the new content as a stand-alone purchase on our website www.indiegamethemovie.com

Anyways, just wanted to give you a little more information.

-James

They come on other DVDs that you would normally have to buy again.

If you ask me, this is exactly the kind of thing DLC should be; extra content developed post-release and sold as a minor add on. Not content omitted from release and parcelled out afterwards as part of some repulsive business model (all too common now).

Well, it's fine by me, but WHY please explain WHY did you make an achievement for the special edition ??? Now people who want a perfect achievement score have to buy the DLC ! It's very sneaky, and I don't like it !

It's not like I care or whatever... Actually yes I care !

Many games have DLC achievements. I got the movie as part of the humble bundle, so I'm fine with paying $5 for both parts.
Do you buy DLC for games that you don't enjoy for the achievements? You've probably spent more money for your profile badges.

Dude, I know all that, thank you very much. If I was worried about my money I would have complained about the price.

I've bought more than a hundred games even though I know I won't be able to play all of them for a long time. It's not about money here.

What I think is unfair is to lure people into buying a DLC only to get an achievement (of course there is the DLC itself to enjoy, but it's got nothing to do with that). Achievements are about "achieving" something. I'm sorry but buying a DLC is not an achievement, and shouldn't be counted as one. The result was simple : People who care about achievements have only two options : swallowing the fact that they will never get a perfect achievement score on IGTM, OR buy the DLC.

Of course, for people who don't care about this kind of stuff, there's nothing special to worry about, so if you're not in this case, there is no need to even reply to this post :).

And to answer your question, I buy DLC when they are worth it. When did I say that I wouldn't enjoy IGTM : SE ? I think I would.

Your problem essentially boils down to achievements for watching the film. There are achievements for watching the film, the extras, the commentary's - why wouldn't the DLC include one? Would it be a problem if there was more than 1 achievement?

Because buying isn't something everyone can do as they like, no matter how many times they try ? I have the money to buy the DLC without any problem. I know some people don't have it.
Why would I have the ability to "achieve" this, while others can't ? It makes no sense. This is no achievement.

Then they won't get every achievement, like the achievements for DLC packs on Fallout NV or Skyrim, you need the DLC to get the achievement. I don't know what you're complaining about, this isn't anything new.

Never said it was, doesn't change the fact that it's complete rubbish ^^.

i think if you look at DLC in general its mis-used, look at PAY DAY 2 for example, the entire game should just be DLC for the 1st PAY DAY the way this movie has done it is the same way you get an additional disk with a limited edition movie boxset and sold it as a stand alone dlc package, great news someone understands the benefits of DLC, they havent called it a sequal slapped 2 at the end and sell it for full retailers price. like pay day, call of duty, fifa, heck we all know where this is going the list is pretty much limitless.
Pukasz 20 aug, 2013 @ 9:26am
Its not a DLC, Its almost a new movie, 100 minutes.
