Amazing Game, But Controls Need Work!
Hello all, I just wanted to share my humble opinion here with the game. First off, I really enjoy this game, a lot! I love the challenge and I think the game is well done. Now with that said, I would like to point out my biggest frustration with the game: controls.

Now, in general the controls feel fairly good, but the web swinging is very sticky. What I mean is, the controls for swinging on your web do not feel fluid, at all. If you attempt to trace your swing with the left analog stick (i use a gamepad btw) to help build momentum you will often times jerk around and like, I don't know how to explain it, but get stuck in mid swing. Not stuck in the sense where your character just stops, but he jerks around in strange ways. For instance, trying to jump to a flower, connect your web and then spin around will not work as you would think.

And, finally, the gamepad should really have support for a crosshair as well. Not having the crosshair on the gamepad really, really puts you at a disadvantage. I understand the limitations of a gamepad compared to a mouse, but it can be done as I have seen it done in many other games. You can just make the cross hair a fixed distance from the character, why not?

I found that watching the developers really helped understand the flow of the controls, its something to learn :)

Here are 3.44 hours of me playing, hopefully it helps (warning harsh language)

I want to like this game but the controls and the physics of the game really need some work.
I like challenging games but when the challenge comes fighting with the controls instead from the game itself, it is not challenging, just frustrating.

The web swinging just like the OP mentioned is the primary problem, sometimes it will swig with the right momentum sometimes even though you did the same move will jerk around in strange ways. Also the mushroom jumps need some work as well. Sometimes jumping or just walking on them will work correctly making you jump high enough, other times the jump will be really short for no reason.

A good example of a challenging game and that has very good controls is super meat boy.

For me a biggy is being able to redefine the control keys: this is something that ought to be a requirement of every game. (and is simple to add.)

At least with this game it allows the use of cursor keys; but, it doesn't allow an alternative jump key. Try it, go on, try using the space bar with the cursor keys: it's not comfortable or easy to do and feels wrong. A much better option would be to use the numpad zero. Or, even better, allow me to use one of my 7 mouse buttons.

This is pretty much making it unplayable as I'll have to force myself to use a manky (to me) keyboard combination.

I would also love to be able to chance the keyboard controls as well. This is something I have to do with almost all games I use a keyboard for since I'm left handed and have the mouse on the left side. It is impossilbe for me to play having the jump key as the space bar.

I had to use a controller to make the game playable but I find it hard to aim since you don't have a crosshair with a controller and a lot of time I end up having to guess where I should move the stick. Adding in an option to change controls will really help a lot.

I also think that there should be an option to change the color of the crosshair as it is really hard to see the crosshair on a blue sky. When I did try to play with a keyboard, I ended up having times where I would be searching the screen for the crosshair and when I did find it, it would have been too late and I would already be dead.

I am currently enjoying the game and do find it pretty challanging but the things mentioned above will really help in making the game less frustrating.

EDIT: I started up the game today and noticed that my save file reset. Now I have to start all over again. The game never crashed or anything. I exit the game properly last time so I don't know what happened. Is there anyway of getting this back? It took me forever to reach world 2.

I have the same issue with the saves. Happened to me like 5 times now. Good luck finding a solution I haven't been able to. If you do please let me know, I'll do the same.

The controls took a little getting used to, but I don't think there's anything majorly wrong with them, personally.

Got frustrated because web shooting with a controller is way too blind shooting for me. Also I have no clue why the default jump button wold be A if you need to ue the right analogue. Right bumper would make much more sense or just make both of them work.
