Hmmmm
btw, TB sucks at these type of games so that video doesnt say all that much, he says it takes a ''ton'' of getting used to the swing mechanic but it seems he only played for about 1 hour, not like you can master a game such as this in that amount of time its kinda ridiculous for him to say that.
Its a shame to see people want easy games, personally easy games are mind numming, i always enjoy a challenge, i hope there are others out there that like the oldschool style of a challenging game, if thats you, then this is the game for you :)
The game is challenging which is nice but the problem lies with the web swig mechanic and the physics of the game. The web very often won't respond in the way you want it or it's suppose to, which means you are fighting with the controls of the game, resulting in frustration.
A good example of a challenging game and that has smooth controls is super meat boy.
Also if you ever lose momentum for even just 1second, usually you have to restart the entire level.
I do not own Alien Spidy, I just read this thread. The games are getting easier and easier these days. I remember going into ragemode for Zelda - Links Awakening (I was pretty young back then) and games with really good stories and diversities like FF7 (Playtime: A few days without Quests, simply the story. And Minigames as a bonus - FinalFantasy 12+ are similiar to Asiagrinder-MMOs :( ). Nowadays you could play new games blind, if youre used to the old ones... But if its too hard people start to whine about it and demand easymodes or start cheating (see DayZ).
You can't grow without challenges and losses. Thats why mankind gets weak and stupid. ;)
Amen. Games that are too easy just make no sense to me, unless, maybe, if it's all about the story.
I think this game is a nice mix between challenging and manageable. I zoom through levels, but getting a decent score is something I find very challenging; that's what I like to see.
I just have found this thread, and you can't imagine what it is for us, to start people recognizing some of the virtues behind Alien Spidy.
Some of the team that were behind Alien Spidy are working with us, and we were very surprised by the initial responses to the game. We always had the believe that in the long term the game will finally start to be recognized as it is, and we are starting to see it.
Personally, We think that the games need to have a good balance between player and difficulty, but without fall in the trap of being so easy, that there is no challenge in it.
We are now launching in Steam our first game Upside-Down Dimensions, and we will follow our believes of giving players a well balanced game.
Cheers,
HIE
