According to SSG, there are no 3rd party retailers of the expansion
According to Account Services at Standing Stone Games they do not recognize DDO expansion purchases on Steam or any other 3rd party retailer. Under Steam's terms, if you get a bogus code, your only recourse is to Standing Stone Games and Standing Stone Games will tell you that your only recourse is against Steam.

Buyer beware. I tried to contact Steam directly about this issue, but I couldn't find any way to do so.

did you try applying the code in the ddo store?
Hengist Aug 9, 2017 @ 10:02am
Yes. I sent emails with screenshots linking account information even the original email that included the code. I tried to input the code within 3 minutes of its delivery and what I got back was

"We do not recognize any 3rd party retailers, so unfortunately cannot refund any purchases you make outside the LOTRO Store or LOTRO Market."

When I wrote back saying I thought perhaps you made a mistake because you referenced the LOTRO instead of the DDO Store, they persisted in saying that they do not recognize any 3rd party retailers.

Maybe I just got a clueless Account Services Rep, but there are other players on the www.ddo.com forums who report issues with non-delivery of the DLC and other storefront issues.

Since Steam's policy is pretty much all sales final, any issues with delivery or otherwise are the exclusive responsibility of the publisher, and Standing Stones' policy is that any purchase not on their storefront (wherever that is, I've gotten at least 3 different answers to that question, none of which even appear to be Standing Stone assets) is not their problem.

Thus, Buyer Beware. It might work fine, but if it doesn't and you purchased on Steam it appears that you're simply out of luck other than stopping payment on your credit card.

Well that sucks. That would make this a change under the new ownership, I'd think. I don't recall hearing any such issues under Turbine. Hope they fix it quick (either by pulling the non-supported purchases from the Steam store or by supporting Steam again).

The 'Official' DDO Market is at http://store.turbine.com/store/turbine/en_US/list/categoryID.58516100/ThemeID.29252200

They haven't updated all of the URLs to reflect the new ownership, but the Checkout page does reference Standing Stone Games.

Apparently, SSG has had a change of heart and while it took quite a bit of back and forth and more than a couple of tries, I finally have what I purchased last month. So, they did eventually make good, but it was a heck of a thing to get them to do it, and I'm not entirely sure they would have if I hadn't posted here.

I never did get a definite answer whether or not they will honor purchases through Steam, Amazon or other 3rd party retailers, or which if any of the following is/are their "official store front:

http://store.turbine.com/store/turbi...emeID.29252200

https://www.ddo.com/en/shadowfell/

https://store.digitalriver.com/store

I hope that they can get it together and fix these problems before Ravenloft drops, because I'm sure they'll need the cash and right now, I still do not know where it would be safe to purchase.

And what's wrong with that statement ?
SSG can check your code and manually add an expansion to your account (though it'll take time), but they can't refund your purchase since you didn't buy it from them. SSG didn't get your money (Steam did), they can't give them back to you.

What was wrong was they claimed that the code was invalid and refused to refund OR manually add the expansion. I'm not sure if the original decision that it was invalid was in error and upon further review it was discovered that the original account services rep made an error or whether it was decided that it was better to "buy me off" by adding the expansion in the hope that I would shut up.

As you may be aware, 3rd party retailers like Steam and Amazon have policies with respect to DLC that essentially boil down to, "our responsibility ends when we send you an email with a code. If the code is invalid or anything else is wrong you have to deal with the publisher."

I wouldn't get to excited about Ravenloft

Excpect nothing like the d&d module

Are they finally goona make Vampires hard to kill, like real d&d> I doubt it!

Every expansion based on a module has been a miseable failure so far

Vampires are not that hard to kill long as you know thats what you are dealing with. The key to ravenloft will be if they implement the systems used in the modules. With an Adventure Zone. No doubt it's own crafting. Done correctly it could eclipse Necropolis.
