To the Moon from Freebird games is quite simply a work of art! In the game you play as Dr. Rosalene and Dr. Watts as they try to make a dying man’s wish to go to the moon come true.
I simply fell in love with this game, from the start to the end I was going straight from laughing until my belly hurt to sobbing like a giant mess on the floor. The characters all seem very real, they all have unique personalities and flaws which are essential in a story-driven game like this one.
The story itself was very well written, every scene and action added to the story which is probably the reason it only had 3-5 hours of gameplay; depending how quickly you went through the game. There was however very little actual gameplay, mostly you walked around finding objects with memories attached to them so you could go further back into Johnny’s life. However these objects never felt random and always told you more about the characters.
The soundtrack for this game is absolutely breath-taking, it really adds to the emotion of the story and River’s Song will get stuck in your head (I was humming it for weeks). I would definably recommend buying the soundtrack bundle on Steam.
My one flaw is that I feel it is overpriced for £7, for this kind of game I would usually spend £3-£5 so I would recommend waiting for a sale. However Freebird have released two ‘minisodes’ for free as a holiday special.
Overall I would proudly give this game a 9.5 out of 10
If you want gameplay, I’d stay away. But if you want to experience a truly heart-wrenching story, you must pick this up!
