With just 10 hours played, I'm already getting rather bored. SR4 just wasn't as entertaining as I expected it to be.
I liked SR3, quite a lot in fact. A colourful world, diverse opponents, plenty of fun things to do. SR4 though...well, right from the beginning you get detached from the world you know, but it's still repeating the same old things. Just not as fun and colourful though. Enemies are rather generic and it just feels so shallow.
I'll probably try to advance the main quest further to see if there's any improvement, but as it is, I really couldn't recommend it to my past self. I think SR3 is a better game and I'd much rather recommend it over this one. SR4 was a disappointment for me.
--- edit ---
I've now played the game pretty much through, done all the quests and my save said 95% completed. I must admit that it got better towards the end and I was smiling during the end credits, but shortly after that my game crashed (again).
The negatives: lots of repetition from Saints Row 3, nearly all quests were made up of completing the activities around Steelport, disliked the jumping/running activities (loathed the speed rift), game crashed once every 3-4 hours.
The positives: it was mainly good fun, the quests varied a lot more towards the end, plenty of laughs to be had especially near/at the end, superpowers (yay!).
All in all, a solid game that's a bit rough around the edges (bugs/crashing). Having played SR3 it was a bit too much the same old, but at the same time it ended the series with a bang. I was smiling at the end, but mostly the game left me with mixed feelings. Couldn't really recommend it, but on the other hand it also completes the Saints's saga.
