controls are horrid
Wonky keyboard controls with limited ability to customize them will make you pull your hair out. Even worse both controllers I tried were no better. Not letting you bind keys to the buttons you want is infuriating. It should have been ported correctly and it wasn't. It's a shame, the game would have been great if I didn't have to fight the controls, I'm sure if I had 1k hours or so I could get used to them I however do not see that happening.

Obviously this is not a keyboard friendly game, but from my experience, every meaningful control can be mapped to every button...depending on controller. Example: My Logitech F310 can map to every button minus the triggers -- You just have to do it via the one-at-a-time remapping, then the key/controller/in-game configure.

Summary: Keyboard sucks for this, everything can be re-bound, porting seems exceptional (minus annoying flickering and the bow block bug), and the game is quite great in my opinion.

imo porting correctly means taking into account the inputs/outputs of the new device you are porting to and not just making them work.

Either the developers were lazy or the publishing company was greedy or both. I'm guessing it was the first of the three in this case as the devs could have patched the game post release.

Downloading XPadder worked for me, just a little tweaking and it works great on the controller =)

I second the XPadder recommendation. That tool helps tons.

Xpadder makes this game wonderful, same thing for Binding of Isaac, my Xbox360 Controller is a god among my PC equipment now.

Give them a chance, it's NIS. For a first they hardly ever touch PC games (they almost exclusively work on consoles) and second, they operate under very tight budget. Though quite honestly, I don't know if its them or the devs who did the actual porting.

As for the flickering, turn off/on the v-sync. I don't remember which exactly, but the v-sync being on/off causes the flickering when going fullscreen.

It's a controller based game, PC is about being versitile, not trying to stuff everything on a keyboard because you can't afford a 25 dollar Windows controller.

Stop buying ports of dedicated console/handheld games if you can't handle this.

I hate people who try to send the message that we shouldn't have these games on PC because we can't play them using a control set that makes ZERO sense for 50% of games. I want more Japanese games, not less because some proles would try to play Super Mario on a 8 dollar Logitech keyboard if it ever came to PC.

Someone really doesn't like poor people, I'm sorry Mitt didn't win. On behalf of all middle income and below people I humbly apologize for getting fustrated at not being able to throw money at every problem we face.

You must have missed the part where I said I tried two different controllers, both did not allow for any type of intuitive binds one even had 4 buttons on it the game didn't allow to be mapped. You must have just seen the topic, read the first three words, then started spitting. I forgive you.

For this game allowing the mouse and keyboard to be unrestricted would have been the best way to go bar none, anything less is a travesty in my opinion.

If you would like me to delete all my posts in this thread you can throw some money my way and I'll be happy to delete them so you won't have to worry about the publishers or japanese developers coming here and reading it and never porting a game again because I said they did a horrid job on porting the control scheme. Five hundred or so dollars should do the trick contact me for the paypal info.
