Browse the forums a bit.

Make/find some friends and join up with them.

A trick some people use is to change their download settings in Steam to somewhere a lot more populated. Some experimenting may need to be done.

Think about what time of the day you are playing.

CHANGE YOUR CONNECTION SETTINGS in the game.

Isn't this game pretty much dead though?

I've just started playing again, and I can't remember the last time I had noticeable problems with games or finding them (besides the omnipresent wrong connection settings).

Well I'm new to this game and wanted to try it, but I had the same problem, no players at all.

Changing your download settings to a region that has more players does a lot. Trust me.

Just make sure you have a good connection, and you've changed connection settings in-game to 1.5.

And, welcome to GCI. The community can only benefit with more players playing the game.

No apologies necessary - asking is how you learn. :)

Steam > Settings > Downloads > Download Region

Changing that to somewhere where both the time is optimal and the likelihood of finding a significant population of players changes your experience dramatically. Just remember to change it back to YOUR setting if you choose to download games in Steam/play other multiplayer games.

Remember, though, your internet connection counts for a lot. If you're in, say, South America with terrible internet, changing to Russia might result in horrendous latency.

Play around with it a bit, and you should have no problems. USA - LA, for example, usually is well-populated.

A good game is not amking players to change reagion or other kinds of things in order play, if you want a system where you need to drag everyone to a single room why not making a system for it in game.
