Sad face :(
ITs been almost two years since i booted up my beta copy og GCI, and its crushes me to see it like this. I dont know if you know this, but its been over a fudging yeatr since weve even gotten a godd*mn word frm Monolith about the future of this game, and that was soo vague its was ridiculus. I freakung loved this game, and i cant even bring myself to launch it anymore. Its that broken :(

They had a thriving community on the official forums on all platforms and they decided to abandon it while it was still gaining a lot of popularity. Their community disappeared, coming back once to post things are happening and to keep an eye out before disappearing again. They then decided to abandon the GFWL version in favour of the F2P version, giving us a lot but not all of the content some of us had on that version and then did nothing while connections stopped the game from being playable.

This still annoys me. There's a brilliant game there with huge potential and the devs just abandon it and the fairly active player base. There's so many costumes, voices, weapons, items, maps, calling cards, game modes and so on that could have been added to this game. Balance tweaks, maybe a few additional gameplay mechancis and things such as the net code being fixed along with dedicated servers could have given them an insanely popular game that could print money.

Their next game ends up being Guardians of MIddle-earth of all things. A decent game but it had none of the love and creativity put into it that GCI had and it was plagued with the same problems. Awful net code, not enough content and a player base that loves the game and is telling the developer what needs to be changed. They've abandoned that too. First the console version for PC and then the PC version directly after launch.

No idea what they're doing now but I'll not be buying another Monolith game because of it. I really hope someone else can get the rights to the IP and assets from Gotham City Impostors to make a sequel if not just take over development of the current game. There's a masterpiece there and instead of appreciating it, Monolith just want to toss it aside next to the toy box and go after the new toy they've seen on TV. GCI should go to someone that appreciates it.

ITs because they laid of the developers. THey formed BlackPowder Games :/

And WB still has the rights, so does monolith, im a fairly well known person in the gci community, but have never experienced the horror that is the steam version. Ive contacted the peeps at blackpoweder and WB and Monolith, they said nope to a sequel :(

The steam version isn't any worse than any other version, just has better controls :P Bad hosts are a problem, but that isn't the version's fault, it's people putting the wrong info in their settings

Its not that bad really, it can be hard to find a match at times and with no dedicated servers a poor host or a host rage quiting sucks. But its still the same basic game, the only thing you don't have if you bought the DLC before F2P is the ninja costume. Basically if more people would play instead of ♥♥♥♥♥ about no one playing you might find some games :)
