If someone could mod it so that you can use a server browser and host dedicated servers then I'm sure a lot of players would come back to this game. like Turtt said, if you going to play, which I don't see why not since its free, stick to team deathmatch and hope for a good connection.

According to Steam Charts the game has 140 players in the past 30 days average. You should be able to get a TM Deathmatch.

i bought this game the first day it came out, the premise was amazing.
I'm not very good at fps but this one entertained me so much that i feel i robbed the developers for how much i played it ( dont know why steam says i only have couple of hours... )

then the game died and then they changed to f2p.

In these days there is the overwatch hype but sadly my pc can't run it and while i was browsing steam sales i came out again with GCI and i said : let's see if i can quench my thirst for overwatch and let's try the game again.

Well, last night i didn't sleep at all, i played for 12 hours straight, my excitement was over the top, i couldn't stop smiling after every kill and every round, i honestly didn't expect to find players but i was wrong, maybe it's cause of steam sales and people are trying the game but i didn't have to wait more than 30 seconds to start the match.

Only deathmatch but that's the mode i like the most, so it's fine.

The real problems are the unstable servers ( you lose connection sometimes ) and the horrible matchmaking : sometimes you have a team full of new players and the other one full of level 800+ and in the top leaderboard.
These rounds are not fun at all but when there's a bunch of noobs on each team ( i am a noob ) and you can score kills as much as you die...well this is one of the most entertaining games i played in my life ( and i'm very old XD )

The game is free, try it out, if you're good at fps you'll slaughter newbies like me, if not you'll have fun anyway.
P.s. don't be scared by the progression system, the leveling and unlocks are very fast and now you can unlock everything for free ( in the retail version you had to buy some weapons, very bad design ).

This game is so good that i wrote a wall of the text, i never do it XD

i dont think the game is dead.....its just it has a low playerbase...i think they will re release the game

If I never played MW2 for a while before this, I woulda loved it. It's better than all the newer cods except for MW3 (with dlc 1, 2, and 4) and Ghosts, but all the other newer cods are nowhere near as fun as this game. GCI is a fun game, but if you have MW2 or MW3 or Ghosts, they are better for "that" particular kind of fun you wanna play when you play this game. It's ironic because it has similar gameplay to the newer cods :P And is way better than them :P I can't speak to player count, but it's free, and worth trying unless you're worried about data caps. Wait until the end of the data cycle and download it if so. It's worth trying, you might really like it. It is well developed, but definitely an acquired taste. Thought it would be a big cod competitor at one time, but I gravitated back to MW2/MW3

We told the Devs at the begining that this game needed Ded. Servers, they didnt listen:(
