Running into an error
I'm getting an error whenever I run Gunpoint. This is the error.

___________________________________________
ERROR in
action number 1
of Step Event
for object oLoops:

Error opening file for writing.

I use Windows 7 x64, and I've tried verifying the cache. 1 File fails to validate, and gets downloaded, and afterwards, I've tried running it in Administrator mode, with no luck.

Does anyone have a solution?

EDIT:

I found a solution. I went to opt in for the patchtest beta, and this solved my problem.

I only hope that the developers see this, so that they know their patch worked.

Have you tried updating windows .Net files? It was strange, but it helped me with a similiar sounding error.

I hate to sound stupid, but would I download the .Net files here?

Yes, that looks like it. I just downloaded the version I had in Gamemaker's root directory.

I tried installing Microsoft .Net and I still ran into the same error. Due to some FFVII modding, I moved my Steam library, and I think that might have screwed it up... Either that, or because I bought only the exclusive edition DLC and not the special edition DLC.

I decided to reinstall Gunpoint, and see if that fixes the problem.

EDIT: Reinstalling did not fix the problem.

I'm having the same issue on Windows 8.1 with no luck. I've tried removing and reinstalling as well as running as Admin, and it's still a no go. Is there any way to find out what file it's trying to open so I can at least check that it a) exists and b) has the correct privileges?

I'm not sure. Have you tried opting into the beta patch? That resolved my own problem...

Then again, Windows 7 and 8 are two different operating systems.

I somehow got it to work again. I also have Windows 8.1 installed on my personal laptop (being a developer has its perks) and it worked fine on that, so I completely removed it from my other laptop. After a re-download and re-installation, it seems to work fine with no issues. Having better logging would still be nice, though.

I agree... Glad you got it working again; it really is a great game.
