With more than a week after its release, The Testament of Sherlock Holmes has been receiving praise from critics and we wanted to share some of the most exciting commentaries with you!

Trueachievements 4 out of 5:

The Testament of Sherlock has one of the darkest and most gripping storylines that I’ve experienced in the Sherlock Holmes franchise.

Gamemuse 4 out of 5:

Along with an exciting story and a huge difficulty level, this game really makes you feel as if you’re Sherlock Holmes.

Gamezebo 4.5 out of 5:

The Testament of Sherlock Holmes is exactly what you’d want it to be – an adventure that asks you to use your reason and deduction just as the good detective himself would. If you’re looking to play a good mystery, consider this one a testament to the genre.

Gamespot 8 out of 10:

A grim storyline, challenging puzzles, and atmospheric visuals make The Testament of Sherlock Holmes one of the legendary sleuth’s greatest adventures.

Hookedgamers 8 out of 10:

The Testament of Sherlock Holmes kept drawing me back in. ut if you want the full package of adventure, mystery, and Sherlock Holmes himself, this is the best way to achieve all of that.

Gamepodunk 8 out of 10:

An adventure fan’s delight! Sherlock Holmes fans won’t be disappointed.

GameingLives 8 out of 10:

It is a grand success. The story begins with the simple theft of a necklace and swiftly takes a turn for the sinister when Holmes and Watson investigate a grisly murder and are pulled into a web of corruption, deceit and death.

Gamingbolt 9 out of 10:

To anyone who fancies themselves a thinking gamer, you owe it to yourselves to pick this game up.

Examiner 9 out of 10

The wonderfully written story, the character portrayal, and the challenging gameplay make this a game every Sherlock Holmes/puzzle fan must play.

If you enjoy murder mysteries and solving complex crimes, you'll love The Testament of Sherlock Holmes. With well over 60 short stories and novels based on the mysterious world of Sherlock Holmes, The Testament of Sherlock Holmes manages to produce one of the best storylines of all and will keep you intrigued from start to finish. Exploring crime scenes and interrogating suspects for vital clues is a blast, and casual and hardcore gamers can both find something to enjoy with the game. With a dark storyline, plenty of fantastic puzzles and vast improvements over its predecessors, The Testament of Sherlock Holmes manages to produce the best video game adaptation of the great gumshoe ever. If you're looking for the next great crime solving video game, it's elementary; pick up The Testament of Sherlock Holmes today and you won't regret it!

snackbar-games 4/5
Pros: Excellent story and writing, mostly fantastic puzzles, strong presentation
Cons: Some awful voice acting, lots of technical issues, a few tedious puzzles
Uptownmag 4.5/5
There are so few games legitimately made for adults that The Testament of Sherlock Holmes feels like a godsend, a smart and expertly woven mystery that encourages patience and thought without sacrificing its sense of adventure. It may not be as action- packed as the wave of sequential blockbusters it’s surrounded by but there’s no doubt that it distinguishes itself as one of the year’s most unique and rewarding titles.
Sherlock Holmes has always been a staple in the video game world, though, and the latest entry to the canon, is an uncommonly sophisticated adventure game with superior writing, solid voice acting and a dark, twisty storyline.
....But overall, “The Testament of Sherlock Holmes” is one of the best games for grown-ups I’ve seen this year, and you can’t argue about that.

Xboxreviewer 8.5/10
While I had been getting a little bit sick of Sherlock as of late, The Testament of Sherlock Holmes has completely changed my opinion, and I really just can’t stop playing this game.

mhh. Never heard of 90% of these reviewers.
Why don't we save everyone some time and just do this

Exactly because of that, Metacritic has very few web sites that are allowed to post there and the Metacritic score is already on the game page on Steam. Many other web sites exist and they are not less valuable.

Besides an average score that is wieghted by some formula that isn't publiclly made available and restricts actuall critics from posting there is useless. I never will use metacritic and hope others do the same. With that bieng said I want to get this game and still need some convincing.

Can anyone summarize the reviews? I'm wondering if this is a good game.

Critics aren't qualified to give an opinion? Or do you think they are all paid off? Watch out for the man...
ALungu27 Dec 28, 2012 @ 11:28pm
Im not saying all those reviews linked here are but in general...
Some Critics get paid for each hit on a ad. The more attention they draw to the page, the more hits and more money they make. Negative reviews may hurt them as the ad may be pulled etc ... So, yes some are biased and thats why many gamers tend to pay little attention to them. Thats also why some games get a 9.5/10 AMAZING!!! score, yet the actual players are scratching thier heads saying .. "What is this crap?" Thing is it all really comes down to a personal opionion. What I love others may hate and visa versa. The best reviews, IMHO, are from trusted friends you know you have something in common with.

Again, in general comment related to some critics, not necessarily posted here.
havent tried this one myself, so can not comment on it, but past SH games I did enjoy so will give it a try.

I found i pretty boring. It needed more actual detetive work, less opening puzzle boxes

Don't look at scores. Read reviews and pick up on the likes/dislikes of the gameplay. Then decide if it is something you want to buy.

I don't care for scores though metacritic trend is interesting but not objective. The xbox 360 got low scores but the PC version got better scores and more well thought out objective input regarding the game, mechanics, etc. When you read reviews/crticisms on games, see if they ACTUALLY talk about the features of the games and how it lives up to actual gameplay, the content and of course the author's personal bias.
