Sound causing lag?
Anyone else having issues with frame rate for this game? I'm getting through all the opening splash pages and menus fine (and intro movies) but as soon as I hit the game proper, the frame rate is seriously slow - initially about 1 frame a second if not worse. This weirdly improves over time to become playable.
I've found it's something to do with sound; if I turn my sound device off completely the game runs smooth as butter; not an ideal way to play though.
It could be that my on-board sound card is just rubbish, though I've not had this issue with any other games; I've checked all my drivers are up to date and am trying various sound settings (ie 16 bit 41800hz etc) to try and get it working.
Any ideas?

Yup, are you using an odd resolution for your screen ? You know these "1334X440" kinda resolution ?
Aspect ratio on 2D can make this game slow on some machine.
Anything else you could tell about your hardware ?
OK, that's really odd. I'd tried a few different resolutions already (various aspect ratios). Each time I change resolution in-game (ie via the game menu) the game runs perfectly - once. If I start the game again it lags again until I do the same again (ie switch resolution then play). It's playable now as long as I do this each time - not ideal but no biggie. Cheers!
Could be a driver issue then...
Good you can play without too much issues...
Try to set the game at a 16/9 or 16/10 aspect if you can, you know the classical ones
What is you desktop resolution ?
1680 x 1050. I had lag on this res originally, but it seems as long as I switch, it doesn't matter what I go to - this res works fine now for one go, then I have to jump again. I've tried switching between a few resolutions now and can't find a consistent issue with aspect ratio. It just seems like switching resolutions itself does the job - although sometimes this needs a nudge (for example, switching between 1280x1024 to 1680x1050 doesn't always work, sometimes I need to go to, say 1024x768 and then upward).
I'm not too fussed as I can play it now, but it bugs me a little that I can't quite figure out the problem consistently. Weird!
Very strange indeed, waht id you configuration Specs ? (Video card, Processor,Ram )
It seem to be resolved by enabling VSync.. you shoud give it a go...
