Graphic cards compatility issues

Whenever I try to start up the game, I get the following error-message:

"no suitable graphic card found
Could not find a direct3d device that supports the xna framework hidef profile
Veryfi that a suitable graphic card is installed
make sure that the desctop is not locked, and that no other application is running full screen mode
avoid running under remote desctop or as a windows service
Check the display properties to make sure hardware acceleration is set to full"

Im guessing this is an issue with my video card. I am running windows 7 with Intel (R) hd graphics and directx 11.

You need a card which supports the newest version of XNA Framework. Some Intel graphics cards claim to support HD and suchlike, but I personally find them bargain basement and barely suitable for purpose. Get a entry level ATI or nVidia card. I'm using a pretty ancient one and it supports XNA HD fine.

Yeah, I was pretty sure the problem was the so called "hd" intel card. Just wanted to have it verified. Thanks!

Any recommendation for an nvidia graphic card, perhaps from one who has managed to get the game up and running?

Well i am not a reference here, i am using a... *cough cough... 690 GTX... I am sure any less than 3 year old card is fine.
I hear the 670 Ti are good stuff, you know video card, it all in the budget... (and in your PSU too...)

It works on my GF 8800 GTS 640, so I guess it is hard to buy something that wont work.

Depends on how much money you can shell out, budget 9800gt, £300 msi gtx 670 OC. Got 2 myself 1 is overkill for this game but hye least you cna play other ones

Well I do have a Geforce GT 540M but that didn´t work...I guess that's too old?

It shouldnt be, maybe it is due to Optimus and so the card isnt turning on for the game. I dont know too much about all those mobile cards and their soft, but I think you should be able to set it somehow. Check out information about Optimus and setting games to run specific card.

Ive never used any laptop with this technology, because I dont find laptops particularly good for gaming, but there are a lot of tutorials about this, including simple video ones

In case of Steam you will find exe files of games in its folder
