Poison Cindy Bug?

Having some difficulty with the final boss, poison cindy. Not sure if it's a bug or not. In the second round, once you've worn down her health and are thrown into the mini game, it asks me to hit a series of keys to complete the steps of the mini game. The first is to hit the mouse wheel button, which registers normally. The second is to hit the D key, but when I push this key it throws me out of the mini game and gives me a damage penalty as if I hit the wrong key. I would really like to complete the game, any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
