Is it worth it to buy the Original Rocksmith or just wait?
Is it worth is to buy the original now? Are there additional songs on the original that aren't included in the 2014 version?

Thanks!

If you do not have the original game you will not be able to play any of the first's games songs in the 2014 version. So it is worth it to get the regular version because 30 bucks for 50 songs is worth it (DLC is 3 bucks each so if you payed for more than 50 songs it would be over 150 dollars).

I'd say look for a deal on RS I found the game and cable for 24 bucks shipping included. Then I'd wait until a good deal on 2014 without the cable after it comes out. There is a lot of gameplay in RS and with custom songs the gameplay is enhanced. See sniping owls guide to custom songs in the guides section.

By the way that was cheaper than buying the cable by itself.

I'd agree with everyone else here, getting the original RS is worth it just for the songs, plus you've got over a month to complete it! (I bought it in August and have got 60% of the trophies now and was a guitar noob when I bought it)

Can you listen to the songs without a guitar? I don't have a guitar yet.

@ shoki
i think you can but i don't see a point in doing so. if you just want to listen to the songs included in rocksmith go tho the official homepage look at the song list and search for them in youtube.
there are also a lot of gameplay videos on youtube if you want to see the notes displayed. Or you just buy a freaking guitar NOW!

Rocksmith 1 is $25 on Amazon right now. If you purchase that, you'll have the Realtone cable, meaning you can purchase the $60 version of RS14 for a cool $85 total.

Or you can purchase the RS14 cable version for $80 and save $5... But not have any of the songs from the first game.

I think it's obvious what the choice is :)

I bought it for $24 and my buddy bought it for $25 neither one of us have a guitar yet. I like the idea of having the songs and the cable ready to go.

Well I just bought the original (with cable) for £12.99....so its probbaly worth it if you can get it that cheap, if only to get the cable that is still retailing on its own for around £19.99 - £29.99.

I think you can, but unless you REALLY want that extra song you might be better off waiting until you have a guitar. Though there is probably a guitar set up step initially and I'm not sure if it's skippable. That way, if it takes you longer than planned, you might be able to pick it up on sale. They'll also eventually release a bundle version with a guitar if you don't have one. I can't comment much on the quality of the guitars they bundle into it though. I already owned a few before the first one was released.

I agree with getting the first for the songs, treat them like DLC if you will XD But if you think the songs in the 2nd one are more than enough then it's up to you! :)

yes ...if you are into 'guitar' . and at what 20 odd $ or pounds you get a free cable thus saving even more on the 2014 version.

The best reason to get Rocksmith 1 is the cheap Real Tone Cable. Of course, you have to buy it from a store.

got RS1 on amazon a few days ago. like others have said its worth it and cheaper than the cable!! oh and ive probably logged 30 hours already :D

Rs is realy inproving youre techiques of playing youre speed and how to play so if you love to play guitar why not buying them both

I love this game. I wsa a mediocre guitar player who'd never played bass before and I've got OK-ish at the bass pretty quickly.
I'll probably end up getting the 2014 Edition as well for the extra songs and for a 2nd Realtone cable for duets...

The crux is this: for about £30-50 you can buy a guitar. Not a great guitar, but a guitar.
That's roughly what you'd spend for a fake plastic Guitar Hero/Rockband instrument with no practical use.

Do you want to play a guitar or just pretend to?
