Did not expect that, hope it comes out day and date on PC this time around.

Still has a horrible menu design. If it's not on pc I'll stick with the original.

You have not seen horrible menu design

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/10/e3-2013-rocksmith-2014-announced - seen menu layout in the Video here.

Menu is being shown in the vid from 10-40 seconds. Same style layout, only more options thrown in. Convoluted and horrible in my opinion. Jerry does it with voice, so it takes longer, but can you imagine trying to do that while hanging out with some friends who are all talking or asking questions? On a keyboard it's going to be more annoying, Arrow down, down, down, enter, right, down, down, down, enter, and so on.

I've seen worse menu designs elsewhere, but they should have heeded the complaints on the first one.

On the bright side, 50+ new songs, older dlc will transfer, and feature wise I seen multiplayer, non-stop playing, new guitarcade games and lessons (hopefully they improved old ones too), riff repeater on the fly, among other notable things.

Will game disk tracks transfer?

Sorry guys, stuff your info about menus... The impotant info is:

"There will be over 80 carefully crafted lessons and interactive instructional videos built into the game to help you on your journey to mastering guitar.

Guitarcade is back with new skill games aimed at perfecting dexterity, speed, and music knowledge in a unique way."

All of us are now able to pick up a guitar and copy whats on screen, but how many of us can pick up a guitar and improvise?
Not many, i'd say, including me.

It is good to see they are starting to turn this into a true guitar learning tool.

They obviously design this game for console first, so no matter what "re-designed" menus they do, they will still be a crappy console port.

Will the 2014 edition be available for steam?

Maybe there will be more popsongs and some rap to learn. You know there is no reason to learn any real shredding on guitar.

What about the music you already have? We’re excited to announce that Rocksmith 2014 Edition is backwards compatible with your existing library of songs. Stay tuned for more details coming soon.

I think the menu is good. For pc for console. I dont get ppl who complain that everything is behind too many buttons etc. They havent obviously ever played any old games from c64 or nes 8-bit etc... i grew up with that old stuff.

My second point is that ya. Its still pure console port. But im hoping that we will get better performance for pc(as windows, hoping it will work with wine and later maybe linux) and mac. So they need to consider the graphic side for opengl too which would make it more friendly for pc/mac hardware and drivers.

The jamming thing is totally what is needed.

The menu design is the worst thing to complain i think cause the game itself needs some glitching after all too specially the way you can handle part of the songs and relearn them. Riff-repeater is slow.

What i i understood about the review is that they are adding some button or mode which or with you can basicly skip all the example solo parts and keep consideration on main riff example. Thats the way i prefer actually learn the songs....

The moment they said Jam Tracks and Transferable songs I was in. My interest in Rocksmith waned after I played all the songs I wanted and returned to my old ways of practicing, but this sounds like the right step for people who want to do more improvised practice sessions and whatnot

From that page giving info for existing Rocksmith players: http://rocksmith.ubi.com/rocksmith/en-gb/returning-players/
It sounds like they've heard at least some of our complaints about the interface in the first game.

They say "Our menus have been entirely redesigned to be clearer, smoother, and blazing fast", so that sounds good.

The real problem with the menu system in the original Rocksmith wasn't so much the design of the menus, but the choices they made about where to place certain functions in relation to other functions, and their failure to implement a way to backtrack through each layer of the menu especially after you'd finished a playthrough of a song..

I'm cautiously optimistic about this menu redesign for Rocksmith 2014.

Another thing that sounds pretty good is "A new on-the-fly Riff Repeater will let you quickly select your section, difficulty, and speed simultaneously, putting you in full control of your practice."

I think a lot of us really liked the idea of the riff repeater in the first game, but the way it was implemented left a lot to be desired. Again it sounds like they've heard the complaints and attempted to do something to improve the situation. We'll just have to wait and see how well they've done it.

Something else that a lot of people talked about with the original Rocksmith was that it was focused much more on being a game than being a learning tool, and many complained that it didn't really teach you how to play guitar for a technical and music theory standpoint.
The inclusion of "over 80 carefully crafted lessons and interactive instructional videos built into the game to help you on your journey to mastering guitar" sounds like a step in the right direction for those people too.

It remains to be seen exactly what kind of content these lessons will consist of, but it certainly has the potential to be something pretty amazing!

Very likely, as you can see a PC-download "box" on the official page. The only thing that remains to be seen is, if it will be on PC the same day as on consoles. I would think so, as the reception on PC wasn't bad in my opinion and it shouldn't be much of a problem to do it, now that they've done it once.
