Someone please help me!!!

I loved the game for the few minutes i played it but when i play the first gig (concert or what it is called) the notes are way to late, and if i play them when it was supposed in the music it says it is correct even if the note is really far away. Also i've been experiencing another problem, )an example) the game tells me to play a cerain note in the 3rd fret, and i play it correctly but the game says that i have to put my fingers more to the left, i tried to play in the 2nd fret instead of the 3rd and it worked perfectly. Is this a problem or is it just me that i don't understand the interface?

I just use the on screen notes as a guide to whats coming and actually play in sync with the music. After alll thats where the notes belong !

There is I believe a setting in options to adjust screen syncronisation but I have never bothered ,,,,
