Songs are expensive
In my opinion i think the songs are over priced, i mean i got the game for £25 (cable and game) from HMV (weird isn't it?)
They don't have a wide variety and they charge £2.40 a song? i mean you can pay more then what you paid for the game and get about 10 songs? the game came with over 50.
I've been looking into adding custom songs but it seems that not many people have tried making some :P

What are peoples opinions? and any information about custom songs? :)
Greatly appreciated!
(it might just be because i'm a student at uni and have little money)

I agree its overpriced too, even when some guys explained that it is tough work to build a tab for the game, synch notes, lyrics etc. OK
But i think the main problem is that music majors grab a tax on it too, and they might never accept to discount the DLCs too much.

The lower the price, the more they'll sell, and i'm sure a lot of us players refuse to pay that price for a song, even a pack ffs !

Well, there is still the old school solution : getting Guitar Pro software, infinite number of custom (and various quality) tabs for free. OK its not ludic, but it does the same :)

Except Guitar Pro doesn´t teach you to actually play guitar. It is only a program for players who actually can play and make songs them self. + it legally cost 55 euroes..

Aha, yeah i think its because it's kind of a niche market too..
As only a few people will go out spend money on a game and a guitar and a cable, meaning that they must think we have more money! but i've played guitar for a long time now and the only interesting song i can honestly keep trying to play is sweet home alabama!
I'm at uni studying game software development at the moment, and if they made the game they would of made an easier way of importing the songs, so it wouldn't take them that long to even make the.. well thats assuming they don't do it by ear and get the tabs, and different tones from the music producers :P
I have tried to understand tabs but even after a couple of years it is still a complicated and annoying way to learn music (but that is just my opinion)
anyway i just wanted to know if people agree that the songs are too expensive for what they are? if i bought a song i probably wouldn't play it over 20 times which would be roughly 1-1.5 hours i would say £1 would be slightly over priced at that rate x3

Tux guitar is a free software that reads and plays guitarpro files, so you dont have to spend 55 bucks to go for the "old school solution".

Well I Guess I'm Old School...i remember going to the local music store to buy tab and it was around the same price as these dlc songs so i dont have a problem with it....you could go buy COD:black ops for $60 then pay $50 for the dlc....i also remember when COD dlc was called a patch and it was free ;-{

Aha, yeah but a lot of what you paid for when buying a tab for was the printing out of the tab, and you had the physical copy, thats worth more money in the first place, a dlc isn't physical it requires no disk it is just downloaded, thearetically it should be a lot cheaper then buying a tab xD, i remember buying tabs before and you could buy a book of tabs, £6 for 20 tabs! its £6 for 3 on this game :{ and it's lucky i don't like COD then ^^

no it shouldn't. when you buy tabs in physical form you don get the the tabs, the original song and a sim for the right guitar and bass sound. remember, not only ubisoft wants to make profit with the game and the dlc, but also the labels and musicians want their fair share. i agree, 2,99€ is pretty expansive, but when you look at i tunes where a single song costs 0,69€-1,29€ and you get nothing more than the music, i think the songs and especially the packs are reasonable priced.

I said theoretically, because i was talking about when tabs were the only way to learn how, and for the song on places like itunes there is a simple fact apple take around about 40% of the profit on a song, which as you said would lets say be 1€ 55% goes towards the music cost, which you can assume is more of a set price so lets say per song they charge 0.55€ that means that the people on rocksmith are charging a 500% more then what the artist gets (when spending 2.99€.. okay to release legally a book back then with tabs in it you would still have to pay artist royalties for the tab, now since it costs no money to distribute the songs (apart from the minor cost per song to host it) which means you don't physically own these songs, whereas if you bought a tab the value still remains in your name so in a way you still have some of the money as a physical property (you could resell it basically)

finally if you consider how much money would go into selling, manufacturing, distribution, advertisement yada yada yada theoretically tabs SHOULD of cost more then a simple single song dlc.. which you don't actually own it can get taken off of your account at any time if steam or ubisoft decide that you don't deserve it anymore xD

Sorry if i went a bit off topic in the above paragraph x3

Though I agree they are expensive, and this is by far the most expensive game I own, when you consider all the dlc. It does go on sale.(which is when I bought most of my dlc) Not very often but at xmas all the dlc was 35% off. Execpt for the latest release. Which was Foo FIghters then. Also the Tabs usally included two combos and the a Bass line. Not sure if they have one or to combos for bass as I dont own one so havent tried.

Id just wait for a sale again, and only buy the songs you really, really want. Which in my case is almost all of them.
Riavan Jan 16, 2013 @ 4:48pm
You dont have to buy all the dlc though, just buy the ones you like, omg, I get so sick of this whole "it's the most expensive game i own/on steam" etc. I pay like 3.50 for a song, thats like nothing, a song pack costs as much as a footlong subway.
Soyabean Jan 16, 2013 @ 6:48pm
I suppose that's a point spider :) i have no quarms with the game infact i quite enjoy it ( even though it takes a while to get use to reading)

Riavan in this thread i was asking for opinions so people are allowed to say things are expensive, hell actually i got the game really cheap! And i got afew free dlc as in the rocksmith shop it said 0.00 i got it for free for reporting it to ubisoft x) and my point was just that the game itself comes with 50 songs, i paid £25 for the game and the cable thats at most 50p a song :P infact i was mainly just suprised, if you don't like to hear other peoples opinion i wouldn't reccommend using the discussions? XD

It's fine if you have money to spend on them but a lot of people don't sadly
Riavan Jan 16, 2013 @ 11:40pm
It sounds like you dont like hearing my opinion, maybe you should avoid using discussions :P. Also, in my defence, this is like the 5th thread talking about dlc prices being too high.
Soyabean Jan 17, 2013 @ 1:15am
It's not the opinion, its the way you phrased it :P and it might be but there are around 250 threads, after searching through the first 10 pages i felt it was fine for me to bring it up :)
Its just i live off between £30 to £40 a week thats when £3 is a lot of money so it all depends on your situation. Plus ive never been to subway xP
Tofu Ben Jan 17, 2013 @ 12:03pm
Price would be ok if they add a mp3 of the song.
CostlySpider[TGT-C] Jan 17, 2013 @ 12:47pm
Rivan, Wanst really complaing that it is the most expensive game , pointing out a fact. Trying to tell people maybe wait for a sale for songs you might like to have but can live without until there cheaper. Also if you dont really like hearing about how expensive this game is. Maybe stop reading and commenting on those threads. Nobody made you stop and read this thread.

Plus 3 dollar footlongs at subway good luck. I mwan they have commercials on for 5 dollar footlongs being cheap right now. Depening on what kind of sub you want, Most of the good subs (the ones I like)are like 8 -10 dollars.
