Loosing Guitar Tone when going into Larn a Song

I am new to RS 2014. I have created my guitar tone, saved it, assgined it to the tone stick and when I go to learn any new song in song mode, as soon as the song starts the guitar tone gets lost and it goes back too a clean sotck tone. any idea whay this is? When I go to session mode it seems to work fine and the tone I choose stays and works but not in song mode.
