Indirect killing (Non-lethal playthrough)
Beat the game, going to start up a 2nd playthrough now, this one going to be non-lethal..How is indirect killing treated? IE freeze time, possession, walk person in front of bullet. Or if they die to the hands of rats, what about rats I summon?

Are there any other ways to knock people out besides sneaking up/choking and sleeping dart? I did almost no non-lethal things in my 1st playthrough (Tried to spare weepers and citizens though)

I just beat it non letal style and the sleep darts are your best friend when it comes to getting rid of someone from a distance. Also dont make the mistake i did and choked someone out and threw their body into the water which killed them. I'm pretty sure if you walked someone in front of a bullet it would count as you killing them.

If you do something to them, and then they die, it counts as a kill. Sleep Darts and Choke are the only non-lethat options (pray you get the strong arms charm in the beginning--it makes you choke faster).

If they're unconcious and they get thrown in water, dropped from up high, or eaten by rats, the system says that you killed them.

Hide bodies in dumpsters to keep the rats from getting them and kill swarms to stop them from eating a stashed body later.

If you go less-lethal, you'll deal with fewer rats and weepers later on.

Killing a weeper counts as a kill, but killing a rat does not.

Blink and DarkVision are your friends, as is Agility.

I made an unconscious guard get eaten by rats and didn't count as a kill in the end.

What about assassinating someone indirectly? The pendletons for example, how you can kill that one in the gas/smoke room with the gas, all you do is flip a switch basically.

No idea how I am going to also get ghost...Plus I play on very hard (I find the game to be a snorefest otherwise), so yeh...Fun! XD

Do killing dogs count as killing? Trying to figure out a way around them because you can't really strangle them =P

Killing a weeper is considered killing someone with a disease ( to which peitro will express his thoughts if you dont kill any via a note).. To get Clean Hands = save game best friend and weapon.. Please dont rob yourself of the overall exp and try to just play the game as it comes whether lethal or non-lethal because if you want the clean hands medal it will take replays and constant saves and focus on one objective, get through w/o killing.. So if on the 2nd playthrough no ability or action trumps saves, thus saving is your best friend. You can put them to sleep ( dogs) , also upgrade the sleep dart.. Currently trying this and ghost now.

If you look around, meet people etc you will be able to get through the entire game w/o killing one target.. Interaction is key and so is patience .. The mission you mentioned was the best feeling i got in terms of non-lethal "termination"..

Doesn't fully answer my question. I can put dogs to sleep, sure, but do I have to? Do they count towards killing/chaos and such?

How about killing someone through changing "traps" on them, like wall of light or arc pylon.

Also, what counts as alerting someone, when the 3 bars fill up, or when any of the bars go off at all? O.o

I'm pretty sure that the traps idea you're describing would count as a kill, but I'm no 100%
Alert is 3 bars. 1 is just sort of a "what was that?" 2 is more like, "huh? lemme go check that out."
Commissar-Captain Tzeentch Oct 14, 2012 @ 11:53am
Actually 3 is still not alert, it's more "I swore I saw something", but it still doesn't count.

So, I think that any number of white-lightning bolts around their heads is "not alerted yet" but when any of them turn red, the "anyone" has been alerted... weepers included.

Yeah I'd like an answer to this, too. I can't really tell if it counts or not yet.
