Nordic has done a damn fine job at breathing new life into this game. It's much better optimized, new content was added, frequent updates, and the god-awful Games for Windows Live DRM is gone.
Nordic even made fun of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpYs6rC8gfA
As for the game itself? It's awesome. It's a GTA styled game with a focus on just blowing stuff up. Almost everything can be destroyed in this game, from small apartments to towering smokestacks to massive bridges. See a building? You can destroy it. Cover it up with remote charges and watch it fall over from a distance, drive a vehicle into it, or just go nuts with your sledge hammer. It's so much fun and it's a great stress reliever.
Charging through a bunch of buildings in a huge mech while absolutely destroying anyone that got in my way is seriously some of the most fun I've ever had in a videogame.
However, as fun as this game can be it does start feeling very repetitive after a while. But even then, it's well worth it's $20 asking price.
I guess one other complaint I have is that the story is nothing special, but in a game like this who the hell cares?
