FOV fix
I had some problems getting all the old fixes to fix the narrow FOV.

I eventually got it to work by using WinRed v1.1[redfaction.filefront.com] to edit the files.

You basically want to unpack the files misc.vpp_pc and table.vpp_pc and edit camera.xtbl in both folders. You want to mess with the <fov_min> value under the camera view with the name "normal". Afterwards, repack again with WinRed.

I made some files for my own use.
65 FOV[www.mediafire.com] let's you see up to his feet.
70 FOV[www.mediafire.com] zooms out a bit more, it's the one I use.

Increasing the FOV higher than that was a bit weird for me.

You need to unzip the files to the "Red Faction Guerrilla\build\pc\cache" folder. Make sure to backup misc.vpp_pc and table.vpp_pc. Otherwise you need to verify integrity of gamecache with steam.

Dude, hats off to you! I tried everything to *fix* the FOV, incl. WinRed file editing and CheatEngine - no success. Then I just took your file, and it instantly worked. I compared my attempts with yours and found the key difference:

In my camera.xtbl files, there was only one line with "fov_min", but in your file, there is a second one. For everybody who starts at the same point I did: Indeed search for "fov_min" and change the value in that line to your liking. Keep in mind that it's a third person game, so less drastic values are needed. OP's 75 is good, I set mine to 90. (Depends on viewing distance / screen size.)

This line you just changed is in the section "camera_view" of type "sprint" ("<camera_view>", "<Name>sprint</Name>"). Now just copy the whole fov_min line and paste it in the same position but in the section "camera_view" of type "normal", which is at the top. And do all this for both files, of course.

Before, the game temporarily increased the FOV a bit while sprinting, now it doesn't. Instead, it now gets a bit closer to the player while sprinting, which it also did before - just enough to fit the increased FOV. So, you might want to set your sprint fov_min a wee bit higher than your normal FOV.

OP, I don't know what you meant with "You need the files to unzip to" - I didn't have that requirement, I could do it in any place I wanted.

EDIT:

Made an Imgur album with three screenshots (45, 70, 90), sadly not from the very same location, but it might help anyway:

Thank you !!
70 FOV works great for me.

Hi, glad you guys enjoyed it.

Pretty sure I meant with that last line that you need to unzip the files of the zip file I posted to
" C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Red Faction Guerrilla\build\pc\cache"

Always make sure to backup the original files "misc.vpp_pc" and "table.vpp_pc".

Well, no you don't. These unpack/pack programs don't care about the folder, and the game of course doesn't, either: Because what you give the game is the re-packed version in the original location. So, why should the location in which you do your thing play any role at all? If you insist that it needs to be that location, mind that not only do I have Steam installed somewhere on D, I also unpacked/packed everything in a tree on my Desktop.

Oh like that. I wasn't talking about where to edit the game files or that the files needed to be put in that exact location.

I meant that if you want to change the FOV ingame you need to put the files I posted in the "Red Faction Guerrilla\build\pc\cache" folder. (and please back up the old files). Which was what you meant by putting the re-packed version at the original location, sorry bit confusing from my part.

Thanks for this, it was very helpful! I hope you don't mind me posting this but I made a few changes to your FOV 65 version to change the FOV for all the vehicles as well.

http://www.2shared.com/file/Ujmq9fSE/fov65.html

This was done by unpacking misc.vpp_pc and editing the view distance for each in vehicles.xtbl to be 1.3x larger. I can do the FOV 70 version later if anyone's interested.

edit: fixed the link again!

Crocko seems to be down, uppit still works however. I think 65 is good for me, 70 seems to stretch a bit on a 1080 monitor.

Just jumped into Demons of the Badlands and the FOV Fix seems to break the DLC unfortunately, the MiniPod Launcher among other things don't work. Shame.

Downloading now and going to test. I tried for ages to get this working as well but couldn't figure out the problem. Shelved/uninstalled the game thinking it was abandoned and a fix would never surface.

So a big thank you for this.

Would truely like to see this stickied, it's incredibly helpful.

EDIT: Works perfect and now looks like an actual PC game. Thank you!

Thank you so much! Too bad about the default 45 fov, it probably put a lot of people off of the game initially myself included.
