"Unable to reset video device" error
I just got RCR gifted to me by a good friend. Installed on my NVidia Optimus laptop...

...and when I run it, it gives me a DirectX error. Quote:

Any idea what's going on? I keep this system up to date.

Download DirectX. Install.

Which version? Link please, as even Microsoft's Developer Network tends to be a labinyth.

I already have DirectX installed (both 9 and 11). Nether is working.

If you have Windows 8, go into Steam\steamapps\common\Retro City Rampage, right click the retrocityrampage.exe, and choose "Troubleshoot compatibility". Choose the option "Try recommended settings" and then "Test progarm" and game should launch. Close the game, choose "Next" and save the settings and you're good to go.

Easy, peasy, one-two-threesie.:winkkit:

Nope, Windows 7 here. But something did change over the time and I'm able to run it now.


Still... I could use a Linux port...
