Audio issues
The game itself is great fun, but I'm having a few issues related to audio:

1.) The game volume doesn't reset to previously chosen levels upon subsequently launching the game unless you go into the settings menu and raise/lower one of the volume levels.

2.) When using my G930 headset I regularly hear this "thrumming" sound, which seems to occur more often when driving a vehicle, it sounds like a sound file not playing completely/getting stuck repeatedly like a drum-roll, similar to when you're playing a game that crashes and you hear the audio looping endlessly. It occurs regardless of whether I have the virtual surround sound enabled/disabled (so I don't think it's an issue with that), and it does not occur when using the onboard sound (the g930 is considered a seperate USB audio device as you likely already know). I've had no problems with other games and this headset. I'd like to be able to use the headset but the regular "thrumming"/drum-roll effect is jarring.

*EDIT* - as I updated in the later posts, this isn't isolated to the headset, happens with onboard sound as well.

I've verified the game files successfully, and am using the latest version.

My Specs:
Asus P8Z68-V LE Motherboard w/ Realtek onboard sound + Logitech G930 Gaming Headset
Core i7 2600K @ 3.4 Ghz
8GB G.Skill DDR3 RAM
Gigabyte Geforce 660 OC Windforce
Windows 7 Professional SP2 w/latest updates

Re-installed the game
Tried to update DirectX
Tried in-game settings
Occurs with both onboard sound and headset - no audio issues in other games.

I've confirmed it's related to sound effects/a particular sound effect, as turning off the sounds, but not music eliminates it. It seems to occur around traffic and as I say it's a loud thrumming that will rise and fall in volume. Very irritating. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Adjusting the various channel volumes etc. in the Logitech software doesn't appear to do anything.

As in, you've seen the same issue? Do you happen to know of any workaround? Imagine this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzAfTmC3It0 but faster and with more bass nearly every time you find yourself around a few cars (which as it happens is a LOT in this game) - it drowns out the music/all other sound and makes the game a nigh unplayable experience.

Ok, so I just re-tested, and I hear the same thing using the onboard sound as well (it's not quite as pronounced, probably due to the superior filtering/proximity of the headset vs. desktop speakers), so either it's a general audio bug, or is this sound intentional? It's quite loud and grating, almost like someone doing a drum solo on a trashcan lid and seems to occur around traffic. Some developer acknowledgement of this as either intentional/a known bug would be appreciated. I really want to enjoy this game (and it is a fun, well designed game otherwise), but this issue is seriously hampering the experience.

So far I've tried deleting the DX redistributables in the game folder and re-installing them, changing the audio playback frequency, changing the framerate to 30FPS locked, running the game in admin as well as XP SP3 compatibility mode. I'm at a loss - I have no sound issues like this in any other game, it's isolated to this one game. Between this and the volume blaring at startup, it seems the audio code for this game might be bit buggy. I know the game was made by a single developer, and I can sympathize, but a little feedback would be nice.

Dug up this old thread:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/204630/discussions/0/882962698497216537/
which seems to imply that it's a DirectX audio acceleration issue - two of the people in that thread are describing what I'm hearing, but of course DX in Windows Vista/7 is no longer accelerated, so it's not related to that.

Yeah this is a bit of annoying bug, all I hear is that stupid car like sound and the sound when you pull out your headset

Thank you for confirming it - it's a constant helicopter/drumming sound that increases and decreases in volume when near traffic. It's a shame as the game is fun, but at this point (just bought the game yesterday), I've sadly spent more time trying to troubleshoot this sound problem than playing the game. It completely overpowers the other sounds/music and I have no idea why this hasn't been addressed/acknowledged.

I didn't really notice it at first, but then I noticed and then I knew it was a bug, I messed around with the options to see if I could fix it, and it didn't change. It is a shame, but the big really kills it for me, it breaks immersion, and it's just downright annoying. I hope someone finds a fix or it gets patched

bumping again so this stays at the top. Waiting for a developer response.

Still no response? Come on, I'd settle for "this is a known issue and I'm looking into it" at this point. I've done practically everything I could on my end, and trying to play the game with a loud crescendoing thrumming effect around traffic that drowns out all other sounds/music is aggravating at best and completely destroys immersion.

Bump yet again.

I've uploaded a sound recording (with music disabled so it's plainly obvious) - it's noticeable towards the end of the recording:
