This is the first Call of Juarez title I’ve played so I was not sure what to expect, however any possible doubts soon went in the first 5-10 minutes of gameplay.
You play the role as legendary bounty hunter Silas Greaves, as you revisit his chain of events leading up to the year 1910. Expect fast, entertaining and challenging gunplay as you fight against many legendary outlaws including Butch Cassidy, Newman Haynes Clanton & The James Brothers.
Graphics are pleasing with Techland opting for cell-shaded graphics, which works well as a nice “different” approach to any I’ve seen in the Wild West environment. Combat is satisfying, in particular I very much enjoyed using my gold rifle to pick off outlaws from all different kinds of distance. Duels are a superb focal point in the missions, a few of which I had to do over and over again to get right! But a nice addition to the linear, straight forward gameplay. Duels mode and Arcade mode make a welcomed addition too.
Expect around 3-5 hours of story, which then unlocks “True West” difficulty - I for one enjoyed the replay-ability of the story, mainly to see the legendary outlaws once more. The story goes at quite a quick pace so I was a bit confused on first play through, hence the second being appreciated.
I’d recommend Gunslinger to those looking for a short & fun FPS with an interesting story (& twist!). RDR fans will definitely enjoy.
