[Western Themed] First-Person Shooter.
You play as the badass Silas Greaves, a bounty hunter with a very long list of hits and a very long list of stories to tell.
The graphics look like they were ripped right out of a story book, and in the most heart-warming way. You can tell Techland put a lot of love into this project, because it shows every step of the way.
The gameplay setting takes place in the past, while the narration takes place in the present as he tells his epic stories to some teenagers at a bar. This let the developers have some fun with the story-telling mechanics, with frequent rewinds and misinformation, making for longer gameplay. You can collect artifacts to read the true historical facts if you wish.
The gameplay is, for the most part, like most first person shooters. But CoJG comes with a fresh twist on gunplay. While old mechanics like the concentration gauge make a warm return, you can now come face to face with an outlaw for a quick-draw duel. Very groovy mechanic, and it definitely makes the whole western theme feel extra solid. You can carry two single handle weapons such as pistols or sawn-offs, as well as a double handed weapon like a rife or shotgun. This installment in the franchise plays a little differently from it's predecessors in the sense that it has an arcade feel to it. Every shot has skill points attached to it, which gains experience points to upgrade your character the way you play. The skill tree is divided into three classes: Gunslinger, Ranger, & Trapper - giving you the power over how to evolve your character.
Normal, Hard, and True West difficulty settings. New game plus is unlocked once completed.
