Hey, this Hardin one is a special case of a duel, as it was meant to be the tutorial of dodging. We tried to make clear that during this duel your only goal is not to shoot and kill the oponent, but rather dodge all his bullets. While the game should indeed be perhaps more explicit about this, I hope that this knowledge will help you get past through it.

Jeez, I wondered what the hell was up when I had only lost a pair of duels between the previous gunslingers combined.

Ok, srsly, what am i supposed to do? When i wait until he draws his gun, i am shot instant. When i pull my gun first when the heartbeat starts, the game show me how i dodge bullets and then i press space and get shot instantly... What the hell? I really like this game but i cant play further under this condition...

I had the same issue, several insta-deaths even though trying to dodge. I finally after countless tries just done it.

Turn off tutorial in Options firstly, after loading into the game at this duel it will tell you how to dodge (which we know already) and won't allow other controls to be input until you enter Space to acknowledge it. To press space whilst being fired upon that quick without dying is a tall order, so just get rid of it.

Secondly he will draw about 2 seconds into the heartbeat, I did click to fire when he drew even though I know it won't hit. This may be in my head but I found controls to be more responsive when dodging after attempting the first shot.

Dodge Right, Left, Right, Left, Left. After the 5 shots, I completed the duel and got through it. Be sure to hold (not tap) the dodge direction button so he dodges as far left or right as possible, especially on the 5th shot, it's a tough angle to dodge to, so you need to be far left.

Even with your description (thanks btw.) he kills me wih his 5th shot. It does not matter what i do, right or left, most far possible, i got shot. i hate him. i really hate him.

That's weird! It was an odd duel, but from what I remember, I ended up shooting him and thinking it odd that the game said I didn't. I dodged the first shot (after dying once or twice,) then shot at him. The game was all "He ran out of bullets!" before my bullet hit him, and ended it.

Impressive informations here. So I have decided that the game is basically over for me after I fought down Frank James and killed some remaining guys omw to Hardin – there I am right now. Hardin I will not fight then as have not got the patience and time after what I read above.

But is still a nice game … an open world game like RDR should be developed next out of it. I specially love these voices and talkings. Keep it, do it. More tactics less fast clicking the keys, moving the mouse would be even more fun.

Uuuh just trying to get through this ghost town in the woods and get all these shoots from the roofs where you have to dodge all time. Is really big mistakes of the game to put in this sh … A/D dodging while I still have not understood even now how it works exactly. After all it is a biggest fun killer in the game. To allow more tactics would have been a better solution to provide advanced gaming. Currently you just fulfil what has been scripted with more or less luck. Think I quit already at this point now.

video game too tough? gonna walk away from it because one charactor was too tough for you? what is the world coming too? and why even admit to it on an open forum?

I see the prob more in the A/D dodging-system which has pissed me off several times before already. Mother of this system is for sure the Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System from Fall Out which provides a very good game play there. The A/D dodging system I simply quote as annoying.

Yep I like it and use it in hairy situations where it makes best sense . Comes also a bit for entertainment like this hit cam in this sniper porno, the elite sniper 3.
