HELP!! INSTALLATION ISSUES
as i start installing everything goes well with no issues than after entering cd key and then chossing location then selecting ok, steam displays a message "GAME CAN NOT BE INSTALLED, CANCEL INSTALLATION"

NOTE; i have plenty of memory and hard drive space

Any ideas on how to fix this??? ubisoft werent much help

steam (vavle) told me to contact ubisoft for support, and ubisoft told me to contact steam for support... how long does it usually take steam to reply to ticket??? ive waited 3 days so far

do you have steam installed on a hd other than C? are you trying to install the game on a different hd than steam? I've read about a problem like this a while ago it seems like it was one of those issues or maybe a windows 8 problem. (quite a while ago can't remember for sure)

I have steam installed on it's own dedicated drive E in my case. no problems here but I also run win7 if that even matters not sure.
kind of hard to troubleshoot without any info...

i run win8... i have steam installed on c:program (x86)/steam... where it nominates to install... i find it abit strange cause i can play call of jaurez:cartel fine, but gunslinger is just being a pain

ok I'm almost positive it's a win 8 issue seems like it was related to a recent update, try manually updating windows it may have been fixed by now.
I'll check back, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

honestly I don't know what to tell you, I don't have windows 8 and never had this issue with vista or 7.

try verifying the game files, right click on the game in steam library, go to /propertie's/ local files/verify game cache.

the game is on a disc, i brought from a retail shop

i cant vertify game cache in steam library cause the game wont even install... and i tried the fix in the link, still not working... im starting to hate steam

I'd help if I could but now I'm out of Ideas, I don't have win 8 and my copy is digital.
the DRM on the disk is completely different. (securom sucks ♥♥♥, I'd go out of my way to avoid installing it)

personally I'd just buy a digital copy, the game is well worth it.

The retail version's cd key can be also simply redeemed here in Steam client. Use Games -> Activate a Product on Steam...

I have german retail and the only DRM is Steam, no Securom.

i figured out the problem, i was supplied the wrong cd key with the game, instead of getting a gunslinger cd key, i recieve the call of juaraz cartel cd key... and all steam or ubisoft can do is say take it back to the store but i no longer have the receipt as ive had the game for just over 8 weeks trying to trouble shoot it and in that time i lost the receipt...
