Controller problems! Need help!

I have two PS2 Controllers ported through a USB. When I enter the character selection, first it will ask you to choose the first character and then it will proceed for the second character. And both can be controlled with just one controller. Therefore, I couldn't play this game using only one character. I already tried unplugging the USB before starting and then plug it back during the character selection but it is set that the keyboard is the player 1. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have any third party drivers installed, or emulators? They may be mapping your controllers as a keyboard to get the game to run, which can cause a host of issues like the ones you see.

For the easiest and most trouble-free controller experience, we definitely recommend supported controllers with native drivers plugged directly into the USB port, where possible. :)

I got a very similar problem. I play with a wireless Xbox 360 controller, and no gamepad "emulator".

First, the game skips all first screens very quickly. Then, when I start a game, I automatically have a second player. If I press "Esc" on the keyboard, the second character leaves and comes back directly... but I cannot "confirm".
So it looks like my keyboard keeps "enter" pressed when I launch the game or something like that.
When I try the "all you can eat" mode, there is a second player (p4).

And by the way, I can actually play alone with BattleBlock Theater, so I don't think my usb port is the problem...
