I'm glad there was a free weekend.
Holy crap the match making in this game is total garbage. It constantly puts me into games with people across the world where my ping to the host is 200+. How does a multiplayer only game release like this? Isn't this game several months old?

You mean you get games with actual people? I always get bot games.

The matchmaking is definitely not the best, but it's not garbage. I've had plenty of 200 Ping host games (Many a time that host being me; I don't have the best internet), and they're not too bad. The lag is so little that it's not game-changing.

You guys do realize you can change the settings so that it only makes matches locally or within your region, right? Check your settings. They're in there.

the free weekend will only match you with other free weekend players (I think) so that gives you alot less servers

If you have high ping in every match, then Awesomenauts probably has a problem with how your internet connection is set up. There are a number of things you can do to improve that, as is explained in the official FAQ: http://www.awesomenauts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2735

If you are only playing against bots, then that is probably also caused by the same thing: the game does not manage to connect to other players through your internet connection.

Specifically for league 1 players there is currently also a bug that makes it difficult for them to find opponents, but this only really applies for league 1 players. I am going to the office now to create a patch to fix that specific problem (patch probably coming in a couple of hours), which will also be an improvement in finding opponents for other players.

I didn't, idiot. The game defaults to searching just shy of worldwide.

Setting it to as local as possible helps more than the default but there's still a crap load of issues that a server browser would have fixed. The problem isn't that I'm lagging out with everyone, it's that the game just throws is all together randomly which is an issue for me if they're hosting or for them if I am. Half the time it tries to make me the host, but I have no way to prevent others from connecting to me from China. I've given up after being stuck in a dead 1V3 game where I can't even leave to go to another server as the matchmaking always sees that game as ideal because the ping was fine. There's no way to even tell it what kind of game you are looking for. Funny game (especially Froggy G), but it's not worth the hassle of dealing with consolitis (and on a game with apparently no console version oddly enough). We get this ♥♥♥♥ in too many games already.
