Something I agree with though, it is enfuriating when the game randomly kicks you and gives an error message. Is this a common issue? The one time I asked in game, someone insulted my pc. That was the whole answer. I have put 37 hours into this game, and I have a lot of fun when it decides to work.
I think it happens when there's a problem with the host's computer. I guess it's one of those P2P issues that's hard to solve. It would be nice if they had servers.
I think it's a fun game. It's the technical details that make it infuriating. Random people pop in and out of a game constantly. It may be because I haven't hit the level cap yet, but it's frustrating. I don't want to start most of my games halfway through. I don't want to be playing with or against bots for half of my game.
I agree with sproctor about the P2P and am quite frankly sick of this new dark ages we find ourselves in. It reminds me of Asimov's Foundation series in which entire planets lose the ability to use nuclear power because everyone just plain forgot about it. Classic features of PC gaming are intentionally left out of modern games, and the player's situation is intentionally obscured by giving as little information as possible. We have games that drop us into matches in progress unwanted; we have games that make us wait until there's a full team on each side - how about giving us a damned choice for once?
Small developers see AAA titles getting away with these terrible design decisions because their large player bases negate most of the problems, but this sort of behavior can destroy a game with a medium-sized player base. Games that come immediately to mind: Lead & Gold, Madballs in Babo, Shoot Many Robots, Aliens vs Predator, Brink. And it's only going to get worse.
