Clearly a waste of my time.
Pushing somebody to the ground is a little different from friendly taunts, dont you think?

Usually the bad apples are in lower leagues. You always have the option of muting enemy players or even better: just flat out ignore it completely.

If you want to mute an enemy player (this will stop taunts an text from showing up by that player), bring up the scoreboard and click the empty box.

But you know, the best way to deal with situations like that is to just not respond in the first place.

I don't know man, DotA and LoL don't exactly have welcoming communities, especially for newer players.

I'd say that this game has easily better community than the other large MOBAs (mostly because it has much smaller playerbase = less toxic players), the first time I even saw anyone be angry and insulting in a game happened more or less after 100H of playing.

Kona's right. That was just a rude comment on your part. If you insult others, you should only expect to be insulted back.

I have found a league 3 player who has accused me of cheating (speedhacking or some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) in every round I see him. Amusingly, he's not that good, but it could be a real pain in the ass in lower leagues where someone might actually file a report.

Isn't that pretty unsurprising? Good players could tell on what's going and why with just a quick look while the not so great ones don't understand it, sometimes to the length of thinking it's a hacker. One day I got hackusated on three different matches (and on one of them the hackusator promised me to send files to Ronimo so that my "hacking" would stop), but it's not that long ago that I felt the sameish way from other people stomping on me (although I've never hackusated anyone).

Rule one: DO NOT say anything toxic in chat, to your team or otherwise
Rule two: do not respond to anything toxic in chat, with the exception of rule three
Rule three: excess ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and complaing can be responded with a simple "U mad?" best case scenario he shuts up, otherwise he gets mad, which can be funny as hell, and learns to shut up in future games.

also the box to the right of a name on the score board is a mute, use when needed

I find the community to be pretty nice. I'm new to the game (well actually I've had it for a while but haven't played it very much), and when playing matches I tend to be more of a hinderence, but even then my team is always nice about it and help teach me new things about the game. From my personal experience this game has a very kind community.

You were still being a jerk about the situation and opened yourself up for retaliation. You decided to taunt someone who was "tearing your team up" for no reason.

After reading some more comments my point is proven. Maybe i should further explain so you may better understand me. A coco was tearing my team up and we were about to lose soon. I was gnaw and i was trying my hardest to defend all game. when it was just me and coco alive i wanted to fight her (we were both full hp) she decided to run all the way to her base and i thought it was funny so i said "you wish you could 1v1" now tell me oh mighty decider of right and wrong, how in the earth was that a good reason to tell a person they are a "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scrub" "keyboard warrior" "typical rager" "uninstall the game", not only from her but 5 other players in the game.

you shouldn't escalate the situation, and then complain about it.

if i player is being abusive, and i mean using really vulgar language towards you or others, i would first ask you to tell them to cool it, and if they do not, file a report.

in this game people think they can get away with using the most hateful words, and i've seen it get really bad.

i was harassed during my other game earlier by a teammate. this guy who late joined my previous match claimed he carried me, and when i told him that's hilarious, he got pretty vulgar and said i was a feeder. i guess he thought a fairy magically did all that damage to the other team and took out the droids.

i wasn't that upset over it though. after i destroyed the other team's turret on my own and got a team whipe out, he rage quit. his friend stuck around, and even with something like 10/2 against a good team his friend still said he carried me after we won. feels good, and i hope he watches both replays. :hmm:

it's also not uncommon that people like that are terrible players in general, so you should feel sorry for them rather than getting in a fight with them.
