gentlemen, how do we get more people to play this game?
i really like this game, i really do.
but its playerbase has decreased a ton over time, i don't want this to be the next Battleborn or Evolve.
What could possibly be the best solution to this problem? i know its up to the devs but it doesn't hurt for the community to discuss the matter of the situation.

Pay to advertise it on websites
I think the size of the playerbase has actually been growing the past few weeks ever since Galactron was released. I say that we should continue playing the game and spreading the good word of Awesomenauts.

Dedicated servers.
Friendlier playerbase.
Reduced wait times.
Not selling nauts for real money which is seen by everbody except ronimo fanboys as selling power/p2w.
Getting positive reviews to top the store page instead of the negative ones.

Since none of these are going to happen just accept the fact that the game is beyond repair.

why do you make this your (as a player) problem? is not up to you to bring more people or try to convince others the game is engaging, if the game gets old, difficult, unplayable (lag, Galactron never launching, etc) is not up to you to make this game great again, at most a deserving recomendation and bug reporting should be your only duty and an optional one at that

The last major thing this community did, as in on themselves for the game and bringing some alternative fun to it was Jinx's ASM and it died unceremoniously after Jinx got bored of the game, and c'mon, turnaments and events are a joke no different from a regular match, in fact, worse as you don't get to play or either win anything at all

The more you make player retention your task and take it from developers, not only Ronimo's but any developer's hands, the less priority it will have as an official matter, heck, we could have had some wave based game mode long ago, it even exists as a """""mod"""" but it will never go beyond that because now it exists as a mod, effectively taking the reponsability from Ronimo and leaving it on the guy who made it

A welcoming/non-toxic playerbase would be a good start. I mean, it's the reason I stopped playing with strangers.

first of all you should fix the bugs, like stats do not update, still on the same rank in leaderboard, same amount of games played, and so on.
second thing, fix matchmaking, 54hours against 1200hours ????
then we can discuss about getting people play this game

Here's what I think we need:
1. More players need to know about this game
-> Run Ads
-> Cross-Promotion, skins for other games by playing this game, Humble Bundle, etc.
-> Word of Mouth
-> Sharing Cool AN related videos
-> Going F2P
2. Substaining the new players and give players more to do:
-> Implement some sort of progression system (Awesomepoints)
-> Run Tournaments
-> More and popular Awesomenauts Personalities
-> Just a lot of Awesomenauts Related Content, Videos, Build Guids, Live Stream, etc
-> Themed Events Christmas, etc.
-> Free Stuff on occusion for little things like Following Awesomenauts on Steam, joing a Discord, etc.

Dedicateted servers won't improve delay, since playerbase is low. NOt to mention that Ronimo is gonna spend years throwing resources at this, with probably minimum improvemnt

Yeah, look at LoL a game with the reputation to have a toxic playerbase yet millions of players each month.

5 minutes is totaly fair and square, if it was less there would be lower matchmaking quality resulting in a lot of one sided and "boring" matches

Most big MOBAs (LoL, HotS, Smite) also practise this, it's clearly not something stopping players from playing these games. Not to mention that these characters are cheap compared to any other game I listed earlier.

Generally speaking players only want to be validated by Reviews, that the game is good or not, as long as positive review percentage is as it is right now it shouldn't put players off buying it.

So there you go none of these things will make the game population increase.

Small playerbase vs massive playerbase.
Games that don't have massive playerbases can't skirt this issue as easily.
Toxic people like you kill small games.

5 Minutes plus a minute for player selection for a a game that lasts 20ish minutes is not ok.

The diffrence is that these other games allow players to access all characters through earned in game currency for free.

why though?, how after every player inyection the review score returns to "mostly positive"? if i were a lead developer, and i saw this i wouldn't think twice to make something about it, in fact players are not a renovable infinite source and word of mouth spreads, Ronimo made and still makes and will make the mistake of pushing player baiting into the game without actually fixing what's wrong with the game, exhausting potential valuable playerbase

i think it's disrispectful that they keep trying to "bring" more people disregarding those who already bought the game as "meh, they bought the game already, second priority" because those who already own it make a quite decent number as of now, but people isn't dumb and it's showing, if there is a reason to still play it is because it's money i already spent when the game had better days and i can't refund

I'm from after the xp update but it seems that is something they should've never done.
Or more realisticly they should've undone said update.
It's not the only update that drove players away.
Ronimo just doesn't care and neither should we, let the game die.

they actually listen, but they interpret stuff in a twisted way though, for instance people pointed out how unnecesary was Overdrive and how Starstorm is not even complete, Ronimo took it as "we want another naut for Overdrive" and there, you have Max. People complained about late joins joining quite late, and they rather removed them, people complained about snowballing and they came up with this Xp thing, people complained about passive solar and they killed solar tree, people complains about boring or overpowered upgrades and ronimo buffs "underused" nauts that didn't need buffs in the first place

by not advertising the fact that the playerbase is dying on the forums. :lonestar:
