Storyline?
I'm a story driven gamer. This game probably wont have a great storyline (I'm guessing, due to the genre?) Or does it? Can anyone tell me?

I'm tempted to buy the game. The art style looks some of the best I've seen in years. However, when I look at the trailers and screenshots, I kinda wish this was like a 2D Dear Esther, that would be pretty awesome, anyone agree?

The story is fantastically obscure. It doesn't tell you much, but just enough to get a feeling for the bigger picture. I'm sure there's an absolute storyline, but it's very implicit. If you're a fan of Dear Esther, I feel that would appeal to you.

As for a 2D version of that, I dunno... Part of what I didn't like about Dear Esther was how incredibly linear it was. There was some exploration, but after the bit of new dialogue you discover, it's a bothersome hike back to where you came from. In a 2D version, it would be much more linear, I suspect.... Unless they make it almost an open world kind of design. I actually have a game sketched out like this, but I decided it would be much too wordy for people to enjoy. Add me if you want details, on that front. This isn't the place for this discussion. lol
dude even if you don't enjoy the storyline, this game is currently $4.50 and WELL worth that. This game should be going for like $20+. The puzzles are a blast, the art is amazing, and the steam achievements are challenging. Buy it.
I agree storyline or not this game is worth it for the puzzles and art alone.
I don't care about the story line, the game is just great
The developper once said there is a deeper storyline to it, but he didnt specifiy

Storyline? If Tetris has one then yea sure this game has it too.
This game hasn't got a full, straight storyline, but it's great and it doesn't matter the storyline, in my opinion. Its storyline is deep and dark; not easy to see, but it has.

It's more like you take a theme away from the game rather than a solid story line. You're traveling along in the main character's mind and life, and exeriencing his past, his pains, and his triumphs through quotes and minimum dialouge. It's quite beautiful in that respect, but in terms of storyLINE - yea, opaque and obscure.
I agree with everyone here. This game is really fun and puts your brain to the test. It's well worth more than what it's sold for

LOLOLOL
Looking at it from an artistically objective standpoint, I would say the storyline is about a man searching for the meaning of his own existence, which he can only find within himself by unlocking parts of himself he has never seen before (doors) and only when he delves too deep does he return to reality ("my home") only to jump right back and begin searching again. The Menace is the fear and pain that haunts him, that which he must avoid but at the same time use to his advantage to overcome the labyrinth that is his mind and continue further.

That being said, this is a great game but it makes me dizzy as all hell and was most definitely worth the $1.50 sale price I got it for earlier today.

I agree with you mate
If you are looking for a similar game but more story based I would defentily suggest Braid if you have not played that already. However, if you enjoyed Braid I would suggest The Bridge as well.
fantastic game worth the money especially with the sale, very abstract. antichamber was the other I bought on a spur of the moment after looking for somethign interesting and both are kind of weird but worth a look.
I just finished the game (including mirrored puzzles) and did not understand the story behind it - especially the last scene in colour in the mirrored universe. Can someone explain?
