[Solved] Linux startup problems - sometimes
First, thanks that you've done a Linux port! I hope it is not spoiled by too many bug reports...

The first start of the game it worked well and I could play to level 3 or 4. When I now start it again, I sometimes(!) get distorted graphics like this[ein-eike.de].
I'm using Debian Wheezy with a new libc and KDE.
As I can play after some attempts to start, this is not a show stopper for me, though.

Thanks for the report Zyro. This is the first time we've seen this issue.

Yesterday we released a small patch to fix the game in Fullscreen when using multiple monitors. Could you answer a couple of questions so we can understand this a bit better...
* Did The Bridge automatically update itself since yesterday (you may need to completely restart the Steam client to force an update). If so, does this still happen?
* Are you using multiple monitors?
* If you change the game to run in Windowed mode through the in-game options, then restart the game, does this continue to happen even when not in Fullscreen mode?

If I'm the only one, perhaps do not give it too much care. I'm running some unusual setup (Mixing two Debian releases, Wheezy and Jessie), perhaps this is creating problems.

* I did see an update yesterday, but when I looked at the download page, it seemed to have 0 bytes...
* ... but I'm not using multiple monitors anyway.
* I did not see problem when starting in windowed mode 5 times, but then, I don't see it every time in fullscreen either...

What happens if you restart your computer and try again? It's possible that the update to the game requires a full computer restart to take effect. Sorry for the inconvenience!

I tried again sometime with windowed mode, and did get a black screen after 6th attempt.

I'm having the exact same issue, debian testing/sid. I'm using a tiling window manager, and if I have the workspace in tiled mode with two other windows, the window The Bridge starts in is quite small. In that scenario, The Bridge usually starts fine.
If I change the workspace to tab mode, The Bridge gets a full size window, and in that scenario, it fails to start. It was happening only occasionally at first, but now it almost never works if it starts with a full size window.

When I start The Bridge in a small window I can then make that full screen and it works fine, so it would appear to be a problem during initialisation, and it seems the size of the graphics buffer affects it.

Zyro -- based on your log file we suspect it was an installation issue. This may be fixed by simply uninstalling The Bridge from Steam and re-installing it.

diegov_ -- thank you for your report. Do you have a log .txt file in The Bridge's program directory on your computer? Also, have you tried uninstalling and re-installing the game to see if this continues to happen? This may also be a corrupted install issue.

I've tried uninstalling and installing again a few times, no change.
At one point I deleted my save file thinking since the game loads my save immediately it might have something to do with it, and the game started fine, but then the save was also there since it had been downloaded from steam cloud.

We believe this is an issue that's happening with Steam cloud storage. We're trying to figure out what is happening here that's not happening elsewhere. Are you playing the game cross-platform, and have you played the game on Windows or Mac in the past?
