The Monolithic Waveform Mac/Linux Thread
This is a thread for OSX/Linux-specific bug reports.

Known Bugs
  • The game may not launch from Steam. It should at least run from terminal, investigating the Steam issue.

Instructions To Verify the Bug:
1. Validate the game cache.
2. Try everything suggested in the known bugs list. Yes, everything.
3. Produce a step-by-step method of creating the bug, if possible. Use the terminal when testing crashes!

Instructions After Verifying:
1. Post your full specs, including operating system and version, CPU, RAM, and GPU.
If you're on a Mac, you can get this from "About This Mac" and the accompanying "More Info" button. Here's the Apple Support Article about it.

If you're on Linux, use meklu's sysinfo script: http://www.flibitijibibo.com/fedora/mekSysInfo.sh

Your system specs will look something like this:
2012 Retina MacBook Pro
Mac OSX 10.8 (Mountain Lion)
Intel Core i7, 2.6GHz
8GB RAM
nVidia GeForce GT 650M
Host: flibitTower
Kernel: Linux 3.6.10-2.fc17.x86_64 x86_64
Distro: Fedora release 17 (Beefy Miracle)
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz
8 cores/threads
3401.00 MHz
RAM: 7.71 GiB
GPU: GeForce GTX 560 Ti/PCIe/SSE2
OpenGL 4.2.0 NVIDIA 304.64
GLSL 4.20 NVIDIA via Cg compiler

2. Write a full description of the crash/bug
This includes the following:
  • Type of bug (unknown crash, graphics issue, sound issue)
  • Step-by-step process to reach the problem.
  • Reproducibility of the bug (for instance, 100% if it will happen every time in the exact same place)

3. Link to a crash log or screenshot.
You can get a crash log by running the game through terminal. When the game crashes, a stack trace should appear. Post the full output of the game (including stuff that happens before the stack trace) to Pastebin, then link to it in your report.

If it's a sound-related bug, a description will do.

I apologize in advance for any bugs, and I will get them fixed ASAP!

Bumping this, since it seems to have gotten lost in the sea of bug reports that this was supposed to centralize... >_<

New version just went up on Steam.
flibitijibibo 17 de Feb, 2013 a las 7:14
Gah, left another memory crash in that build. Even newer version is up now.

Finally its playable, thank you.

Bug: The "score" sound after you finished a level does not stop until you go to the next level.
scrawl 17 de Feb, 2013 a las 9:03
Also, can you add fullscreen/windowed switching with Alt+Enter? Because right now, there is no way to switch to the desktop. Or use SDL2, which does not brutally grab the whole keyboard anymore. :)

I just got this game and was really liking it, and it played...yesterday. I woke up and wanted to play and it won't launch, and I don't know how to do what you said about setting "showlauncher" to false because I don't see that anywhere.
flibitijibibo 17 de Feb, 2013 a las 11:37
Verify the cache, and run ./Waveform in terminal. Steam may not be launching it properly.
Love and Hugs 17 de Feb, 2013 a las 12:52
I did that but the same thing happens everytime. It opens steam, says it's opening waveform, nothing happens for a few seconds, then in my steam library it says waveform is snyching for maybe half a second, then stops and it's like nothing ever happened.
flibitijibibo 17 de Feb, 2013 a las 13:01
Post the terminal output.
Foxicide 17 de Feb, 2013 a las 16:46
I might be stupid, but I don't know how to configure the showlauncher to false or run ./Waveform from the terminal.
flibitijibibo 17 de Feb, 2013 a las 16:56
Spotlight search: "Terminal" should get you to the Terminal app.

cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Waveform/
./Waveform

That should get it going, and if it crashes it'll print a trace.
Foxicide 17 de Feb, 2013 a las 16:59
Right when you posted this I figured out how to do both. It is working now. So glad I get to play it. :)

line 18: 1084 Segmentation fault is the closest thing I've gotten to something new

Sounds like the shell is crashing (line 18 is at the end of the script, past the actual game execution!), just uploaded a new archive that may fix this:

http://www.flibitijibibo.com/waveformOSX.tar.bz2

I assume this is on an OSX version below 10.8?
