Did they fix the cutscenes?
Hello,

Did they made the cutscenes instantly skippable so it's actually possible to replay the game a second time without becoming crazy or is it like when it released?

Thanks!

Still Loading.

No, they didn't.

you can't skip a cutscene until the game has loaded in the background, that's the whole point of the cutscene it acts as a loading screen. you could get a better computer maybe? i just wait.

That theory was debunked a while ago (a couple of days after release). There is nothing to load. The proof is that if you select a certain part of the level from the main menu, the loading is almost instant (less than 3 seconds) but if you start from the beginning, you have the unskippable "loading" cutscene that takes sometimes minutes. The computer has nothing to do with it. That's why we've been waiting for a fix for months.

Thats ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, if you load from the menu a checkpoint, it takes just a couple secs. The game forces you to watch the cinematics.

I doubt R* gonna fix this since they are not gonna provide more support for this game. We will have to wait for some kind of mod.

Honestly i reinstalled the game just to have fun, but since im in a different computer and game has no steam cloud im forced to watch the f*** 5 mins intro and "enjoy" the tutorials plus start from zero. So i just uninstalled the game and dont give 2 ♥♥♥♥♥ about it. I loved it but once you beat it (in my case a couple times) and dont care much about the plot its a pain in the ass to play because the endless cinematics. I hope R* learned the difference between Games and Films.

That's exactly what I mean. I would like to do the game again but honestly I can't stand the cinematics anymore.

how much of the cutscene do you guys have to sit through then? it takes maybe 10 seconds of cutscene then the "skip" button comes up and i can skip it. i don't have the best pc in the world though.

Some are instand skipable but even running on SSD you have to wait minutes on some.

so are we mostly talking about the in-game ones or the bik files? i just tried that trick of using blank bik files or just deleting them and it sort of works but you lose the hud.
Dreossk 25/ago./2013 às 12:41
Yes I tried that trick a couple of months ago but you indeed lose the hud which makes it very hard during the quick-time events where you have to shoot precise points.

i see what you mean now, i only play score attack and challenge modes since i finished the story so i haven't been through it again.
Dreossk 25/ago./2013 às 14:24
Unfortunately, most settings and cheats are not available outside of story mode (unlimited ammo, bullet time on each kill, etc).
Sir Hitman 26/ago./2013 às 1:05
I tried to remove the .bik but my game just crashes when i do that, even tried to just stay with the Logos (startup stuff) and then the game starts but when i finish with the current mission it just crashes.
If you get it to work im guessing you should leave the once named overlay something to still have a hud.
Dreossk 27/ago./2013 às 15:27
Anyway, most videos are not bik files but rendered in-game.

The cutscenes have nothing to do with actual game loading -- just take a look at the HDD LED during cutscenes: unless you have some background processes using the disk, nothing's going on. This is ridiculous, especially when you replay the game.

Story has always been integral to the Max Payne game experience. I have played and replayed the game and I still enjoy every bit of it, including the cutscenes, which are a welcome respite from mayhem. Even the opening one, with Max getting drunk and smashing the frame of his family picture just makes me think back to game one and the awsomeness that allowed Rockstar to develop this truly brilliant edition. Gripers and moaners should just drink, take painkillers, and stay off forums: it's not very interesting hearing the same ♥♥♥♥ over and over again: it's worse than sitting through cutscenes in any game.
