Max Payne 3 Mac Fix
Rockstar has released an update which addresses the stuck on "initializing" and "Unhandled privileged instruction at address 0x955f79c0." issues on Mac.

To get the game working again, search in spotlight "Activity Monitor" then search for "cider" and force quit it (icon with x on the top left). After doing this relaunch Max Payne 3 and if the problem still presists, exit Max Payne 3 go into Activity Monitor and force quit cider again then restart your Mac and launch Max Payne 3 it will be working. Tested this on my Mac running OS X Mavericks.

I'm really surprised they bothered to release an update after all this time. I'd imagine they're having enough trouble trying to keep up with GTA:O's launch problems.

They probably weren't planning on it. I think either Apple (appstore), Amazon or Valve put some pressure on Rockstar due to the fact they were having to give out not just a few refunds and it was looking bad on all of them. That would have made them pull some people over to get a fix made.
