Fan translations

I would love to start a fan translation of S&S, but there are some technical difficulties I'm not able to overcome.
I already gathered, that the dialogue files are contained in the sworcery.dat, which is a simple zip archive protected with the password GdHGhd4yuNF. But was not able to start the game after changing files. Most likely because of file size informations in the sworcery.dat.cat file. Did anyone ever deduce how to manipulate this file or found another way to insert new text into the game? Would really love to get wotking on this.

Ok, some progress here. After a lot of google fu, I found a tool in a russian game forum, made by a guy named EpicAwesomeCool. As it turns out he couldn't be named more aptly, because this tool seems to be able to make a new cat after modifying files in the sworcery.dat. A quick test last night was successful.
I'd say, a bit more experimentation is in order, but this might just be what I was looking for. Wish me luck! :)

What about special chars like accented vowels in Italian (à, è, ì, ò, ù)?
Is there a way to use them in game?

You have to write them in uppercase.
