This game has the ability to draw you in right away. Some of the biggest appeals are the story, beautifully fleshed-out backdrop, and the "close-to-home" fantasy lore that gives its fans exactly what they want in a game of its genre. The one thing that stands out as a possible set-back for some, perhaps is the cryptic and seemingly random nature of a handful of the puzzles throughout the game. Some puzzles seem obvious right away, others not so much. This game had me close out multiple times to eyeball a walkthrough to figure out what I was doing. I believe a good point-and-click can at least provide some clues that may be subtle and not deduct from the gameplay. I felt that this game was lacking that sort of "user friendliness" in some moments, especially when you are given items in your inventory that are used in highly unconventional ways. Maybe this is part of what makes this game interesting--testing out possible uses for an item with the interface or with other items...but where does it flip to tedium for the gamer?
The plot and art style of the game is what kept me hooked, there's a nice balance between clicking around just to explore an area and clicking around for items and descriptions of things to be used later.
I recommend this game for its engrossing easy, and fair amount of dialogue that doesn't wear you down. For those who get easily frustrated toying with different objects in order to advance to the next screen, this game probably isn't for you. Fantasy RPG fans, this one's for you.
