This game might be my favorite game, and it is a fine piece art
Art has no real definition. Webster's defines it loosely as "the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination".
There are arts, and there are fine arts. And in my opinion, fine arts adds the purpose of inspiring deep thought and emotion.

This game is the first example I have seen of either. And it does both brilliantly. Through masterfully crafted audio and stunning scenery it transports me to this fantasy Hebridean island. From the instant the game starts I feel as though I am a lonely survivor on a location that alone gives me shivers and emotions more than the most complex of traditional story, and an atmosphere so thick I can chop it with an axe. And I keep coming back to play it again and again.

Chinese Room, thank you for this gift to gaming and to art; I cannot wait 'till "Everyone's Been Raptured".

I have yet to play all the way through, but I do find this game to be quite amazing. I am glad I bought it.

It is quite refreshing.

the soundtrack probablys' the most attractive part for me. however, i hadnt played it originally for that. playing through i was shocked and often listen to the album on my sound system. bizarre music, never heard anything similar. very dynamic and contrasting.

Quite simply an outstanding game the narration won me over.

It's not a game, so how could it be one of your favourite games? Best stories or favourite art piece? Sure.

That's an entirely subjective viewpoint. As far as I know there's no hard definition for the word "game", that doesn't exclude much of the genre as we know it.
It's an interactive piece, so I'll call it a game until an official definition expels it like Pluto.

It was a really inpsiring experience for me! It was like visiting the theatre.. where you think for some time about what you have seen and heard...
Simply and outstanding game, the end just gave me goosebumps!

GAME, NOUN - A form of play or sport, esp. a competitive one played according to rules and decided by skill, strength, or luck.

Theres your definition of a game. Personally I wouldn't class dear esther as a game.

Wouldn't that also exclude minecraft as a game? Depending on how you interpret that entirely arbitrary definition.
Download and play the Dear Esther Trailer. There. You just "played" Dear Esther and saved your money.
