[Spoiler] Did anyone else see this?
When I was in part two, I took a path along a cliffside that showed a cave entrance high on the mountain across the way. I saw a man with a lantern in cave, and he walked around a bit. Did anyone else see him?

And what do you think he was to the story? The rest of the game gives an overwhelming sense of loneliness, so it felt somewhat jarring, though not in a bad way, to suddenly see a person on the island. But he barely acknowledges your presence, and I never saw him again. I kept hoping that I'd find a way to get to that cave and find him, but I didn't.

Whether you take the game at face value or as a metaphor, who do you think he was?

I think its Death. You are dead/about to die...

It's not the only one you know, the game is full of encounters like this, some of them are hardly even noticable, but when you do notice them...sometimes they are so creepy that it's even scary, no kidding. =) Oh and I have no idea...the game keeps changing stuff with every playthrough, so it's up to you to decide what you just saw.

I've been reading the forums and it's interesting that there's so much more to the game. I did a second playthrough shortly after the first and I didn't manage to catch the lantern man that time, but I did see someone on a cliff next to a candle in part 4. From what I'm reading on the forums, that's far from all of them.

And the narrative differences were astounding. It's almost like the first playthrough was of a sad, meditative man, who was moping about the island in a haze, until he makes his final decision and come to be at peace with himself at the end. The second playthrough was a far more conflicted and angry man. He didn't seem to accept what had happened at all, even by the end.

I'll definitely have to do more playthroughs.

I'm glad you like it. A quick tip: right at the beginning, go to the window in front of you.

The game is full of little nuances that you don't know if they were real or not.

I had expected the second playthru to be the same game, and for me to relive it, and I was shocked by the changes in tone!

Gonna be playing this a few more times, and hopping onto the forums to chat about it. It still amazes us that people don't think that this game is a good one...

I thought I saw someone holding a lantern in that big open space with the crashed ships. He just stood on the path and then walked away. I only saw it for a few seconds, and I'm still not sure if I just imagined it...

I believe there are at least 5 ghosts in the game.

Ps. I totally love how each one changes throughout each time you play.

I thought I saw a human figure on a cliff. It was gone when I got up there. These people are probably figments of the character's imagination.

That's creepy. I swore I saw something on the cliff. Didn't realize it was built in-game!

I saw one looking up at me from the first seaside cliff with bioluminescence. I was standing in the hermit's cave looking down towards the shipwreck.
